Page 41 of Gio's Possession

She looks rough. Her hair looks like she hasn’t washed it for days: greasy and limp. Her eyes are dilated, and she seems manic. What the hell has happened to her?

She’s insinuating that she’s been with Gio, and it sends shocks of anger through my body. My fists clench, and my teeth grind together. It’s all I can do not the lose my shit on her. Knowing that reacting will get me killed, I try to contain my anger.

“Giovanni has never touched you, Carla, and never will. You disgust him. He nicknamed you ‘Viper.’” I should have kept my mouth closed because pissing off a crazy person with a gun isn’t doing me any favors.

“Oh, he will. He’s going to enjoy fucking a real woman who can give him what he needs. Giovanni is a kinky bastard. He’s been with quite a few women in my social circle, and the rumors run rampant about how large he is. How he likes his sex rough and kinky. No way could a little girl like you satisfy a man like him.”

I know she’s trying to get to me, and it’s working. Jealousy isn’t something I’ve ever felt before I met Gio, and I don’t know how to deal with it. I’m not stupid. I know Gio has been with other women, lots of other women. I just can’t think about it without wanting to murder them. Wondering if this is how he feels and why he is so possessive of me distracts me for a second before thoughts of how I’m going to kill this bitch the first chance I get takes over.

“I’m going to get pregnant with Gio’s baby as soon as I can, and we are going to have the white picket fence, two-point-five kids, and I’ll even get the nasty family dog if that’s what it takes to make him happy. I’ll let the nanny raise the filthy brats.”

The thought of her being pregnant with my husband’s baby sets me off. I can’t control my rage, and I reach back and slap her across her face.

She reaches up, placing her hand over her reddened cheek, shocked that I would dare hit her, and honestly, it surprised me, too. My father takes this opportunity to pistol whip me on the side of the head. I feel a sharp pain, and everything goes black.

I’m overseeing a shipment of weapons when my phone rings. Looking down, I notice it’s Serena calling. Fear grips my chest knowing that she wouldn’t be calling unless something was wrong. The girls went shopping for a wedding dress today. Even sending guards with them, I still worry.

As soon as I pick up, her frantic voice meets my ears. Her tone lets me know that I’m right to be scared for their safety. “Gio, she’s gone.”

I pull up Everly’s tracker on my screen and start on the way to her location. Running for my car and jumping in.

“Are you and Mom safe, Serena?”

“Yes, but the lady took her to the back to do measurements, and now she’s gone. Gio, I’m so sorry. I didn’t think.”

“It’s okay, get Mom and the guards and go home. Call Dad and let him know what’s going on. I’m going to find her.”

Hanging up, I dial Marcello.

“Marc, I need you to pull the CCTV footage from the dress store and talk to the lady who works there. Something happened, and now Everly is gone. The worker might be involved, so hold her until we find out for sure. If she did anything to help take Everly in any way I want you to decimate her.”

“Got it, G. Sending backup to your location.”

The not knowing is killing me. Did Everly leave me again? I don’t think she would. She loves me, and she’s as addicted to me as I am to her. Her father is still out there, and until we find him, he is a threat to her safety. Our family also has enemies because of the business that we’re in. As I drive toward her, the scenarios run through my head.

Shocking me out of my thoughts, my phone rings again. The Caller ID reads Marcello calling. Picking up, I brace myself for whatever he’s found.

“Gio, you need to get to her quick. Her father and Carla were in that store. The camera in another store caught them taking her out the back and shoving her into a car. They covered her head, but I know it’s Everly. She walked out on her own, but they were holding something to her head. Pretty sure it was a gun.”

“They covered her head so she couldn’t see?”

“They have something that looks like a burlap sack over her.”

Fucking hell. I know she’s going to be terrified, and that means I’m going to make their death extra fucking painful. It’s more frightening that Carla is involved because she has her father’s men at her beck and call. She can do a lot more damage than Wesley Lawrence could do alone. I’m not sure why or how they hooked up, but it’s obvious they are working together.

If Carla thinks she can torment Everly and me until I give in to her advances, she’s mistaken. Nothing will make me let Everly go, and the more that Carla tries to trap me, the more I want to kill her, slowly. We don’t usually torture women, but when she took my wife at gunpoint, all the rules went out the window.

“Marcello, her location is showing up at the docks. The shipping yard. Get there and bring all the firepower you can with you. We are ending this today.”

“On my way, G.”

Hanging up with Marcello, I pull into the shipping yard. This is where Mario Esposito ships most of his drugs and weapons out of. There are water, docks, and stacks of large shipping containers sitting around. I don’t know what they are doing with Everly out here, but none of it can be good. I use the shipping containers to hide myself as I look for signs of Carla, Wesley, or Everly. I come around corners with my gun drawn, ready to shoot as I search.

I break out in a cold sweat, trembling from fear. Not because I’m scared for myself but because I’m terrified of what they are doing to my wife. I hope I get to her in time because I can’t survive losing her. I won’t live without her.
