No way. Not this time, bud.

Jumping up in the air, my fingers make contact with the silky fabric. I snag the garter, clutching the lace and pulling it down against my chest. Bentley shoves me and I stumble, but somehow manage to maintain hold of the undergarment.

“Fucker,” Bentley mutters under his breath before plastering a fake smile on his face. Ever the gracious loser, I guess.

Madison Leigh shoots me a shy smile and a warmth blooms in my chest, making its way all the way up my neck.

Bentley shrugs his shoulders, then proceeds to tell everyone within earshot how dumb the entire ritual is and how it means absolutely nothing.

I ignore him, sidling up to Madison instead.

“That was quite a catch.” The corners of her mouth tip up and I grin.

“It was, wasn’t it? Not bad for a golfer.”

“Oh my god, y’all are the cutest!” Charity rushes up behind us, squeezing us together in an awkward group hug. “We have to take photos. You know, for the flashback y’all will have at your wedding.”

Normally, a comment like that would send me reeling. But here, with Madison, I can’t keep myself from beaming. I hardly know her, but feel like we’ve been dating – been together – for years.

I loop my arm around her waist and we follow behind Charity, making our way over to the garden wall set up for photoshoots. The wordsKiss the Brideglow in bright pink neon, white roses dotting the dark green ivy.

The photographer places us in position, Madison’s hands on my shoulders, the bouquet hanging down behind my back. Then she has Madison sit across my lap, the garter dangling off my finger. Charity and Cavill get waved into the photos, the bride and groom standing behind us while we hold hands and gaze into each other’s eyes over the bouquet.

A rush of heat spreads through me as I stare into the deep green of Madison’s eyes. She licks her bottom lip, the strong scent of vanilla icing enveloping me. Spontaneously, I lean forward and touch my mouth to hers, tasting her. She inhales, a breathy, little gasp, and my dick twitches in my pants.

I want this woman.

Tonight, tomorrow, and the day after that.

“Get a room,” Cavill teases, and I break away from Madison, heat creeping up her neck and staining her cheeks a bright pink.

“They already have one.” Charity dangles a key card in front of her cousin. “I was going to give this to you at the end of the reception anyway. It’s from all of us, as a thank you for planning the wedding.”

Madison takes the key card, one brow lifted high in question. “Is this a room key?”

“Sure is.” Charity grins at us. “It’s to the Magnolia Suite. You have the room the rest of the weekend. Mom had Daphne pack your bag—it’s waiting upstairs for you. Y’all enjoy!”

Charity winks at Madison, and I’m not sure how I should react in this moment.

“Go on, get! Jolie’s on clean up. And my mom already tipped the wait staff extra to stay behind when she met Spence at the Bridal Brunch.”

“What? I can’t—” Madison’s hand flutters to her chest, clutching at her necklace.

Aunt Edna appears behind Charity, squeezes Madison’s shoulder.

“Madison Leigh, we insist! Spence is so great—y’all are the cutest little couple. Go have a good time tonight! Draw a bath, relax, sip some champagne. You earned it.”

Charity pulls Madison off my lap and practically pushes us out the door.

“Oh. My. Gosh. I’m so sorry, Spence,” Madison whispers under her breath, her face bright red as we move quickly through the room. “I had no idea this was going to happen, swear. You don’t have to stay. You can sneak out as soon as the party’s over.”

“Why would I do that? Tonight’s been fantastic.” I wink at her and she blushes an even darker shade of crimson.

Leaning over, my lips hover close to the shell of her ear, her pulse fluttering just beneath the delicate skin.

“I’ll go if you want me to. Or stay.”

Goosebumps rise on her skin as she slants her eyes over at me, locking her gaze on mine.
