“Seriously? A caddy?”

“Golf pro!” Spence’s voice drifts in from the bedroom and a slow smile spreads across my face.

“It doesn’t matter what his job is, Bentley. That’s what you’re missing. It’s not about that, it never was. He shows up for me. He’s not trying to change me, mold me into some Junior League wife. He likes what he sees already.”

“I do, too, Madison Leigh.”

“It’s too late, Bentley.”

His dark brows squish together, his mouth twisting to the side, perplexed. I’m not sure anyone’s ever told Bentley ‘no’ before.

“You’re making a mistake, you know.” He shoves a hand in his pocket, his jaw set in a tight line. “You’ll come running back to me as soon as the caddy dumps you.”

“Dammit, man, I’m not a caddy,” Spence says, his voice firm.

He’s standing at the door of the bedroom, one hand resting on the wooden doorframe, his arm flexed above his head. He’s so damn cute I can’t stop smiling.

“And for the record, I won’t be dumping Madison Leigh. So if I were you, I’d move on. She’s never coming back to you.” Spence crosses to me, wrapping his arms around my waist. I nuzzle up against his bare, muscular chest, happiness pinging through me.

“You’ll need to find a new dentist,” Bentley growls.

“Noted,” I say, trying to keep a straight face. My future dental needs are the furthest thing from my mind right now. “Hope you have a great day, Bentley. You can see yourself out.”

Bentley mutters something under his breath about caddies and gingivitis, but Spence and I ignore him. As soon as the door clicks shut, I lean up and kiss Spencer softly on the lips.

“Thanks for backing me up.”

“You had the situation under control. But I wanted him to know there won’t be an opening on your dance card again, if I have my way.”

A warm flush creeps from my neck to my face, and I can’t stop smiling up at Spence.

“You might change your mind. You haven’t seen my Cupid Shuffle yet,” I tease, biting at my lower lip.

“I’m sure your Cupid Shuffle is plenty good enough to keep me around.” He brushes a lock of hair from my face then drops his lips to mine. Kissing me long and soft and slow, promising me today, tomorrow, and the day after that.

“This has been the best fake date ever,” I murmur, wrapping my arms around his neck and breathing his warmth and goodness in.

He stares down at me with his deep blue eyes, those long, dark lashes.

“Madison Leigh, there’s never been anything fake between us. Since the first second I laid eyes on you, I knew I wanted to be with you.”

My breath hitches in my throat, my heart pounding wildly. Being here with Spence in this moment, I know, deep-down in my soul, happily ever after does exist.

And I’m staring up at him right now.

I finally found my forever.

EPILOGUE: MADISON LEIGH

“Are you ready?” Jolie sticks her head into the Bridal Suite, her eyes searching the room for me.

“Yes, I think so.” I smooth an invisible wrinkle from the skirt of my white silk ballgown, lick at my glossy lips. I’m always nervous before a wedding, but today I’m especially anxious.

“Don’t eat off all your lip gloss,” Daphne chides, coming at me with the pink applicator extended, dabbing at my lips. “I know it tastes like vanilla icing, but you’re ruining your makeup.”

“She looks great, Daphne.” Jolie walks across the room, tapping on her headset before handing me the bridal bouquet of lush pink and white peonies. “So we’re good to go?”

“As long as Spence is out there, I’m ready.”
