“Sure.”

JoJo handed her the purse, then looked at Brett.Damn.He reached for her hand and led her to the dance floor. When he took her in his arms, his first thought was how well they fit together. He stood six-four and a half and put her at around five-seven without the sandals. His second thought was…nope. He was not going to even think about it.Like you haven’t been since you met her.He chuckled, and she pulled back from him.

“What’s funny?”

“Nothing. The band is good.”

“Yes, they play here a lot,” she said with suspicion.

He placed his cheek against her temple, heard her sigh as her arms wrapped around his neck, and pulled her closer.

“I’m not going home with you, Brett.”

“Damn it.”

He felt her laughing and chuckled.

“I’d be disappointed if you didn’t want to, though. A woman has her pride.”

“I can wait.” The second the words left his mouth, he knew they were not thesmartestto say.

“Is that right? You’re awfully sure of yourself.”

“I didn’t mean it the way it sounded.”

“Howdidyou mean it?”

“I meant Iwillwait.” He tried not to laugh but had to when he felt her laughing.

She looked at him. “You’re fun, Brett. I like you.”

“I like you too. Can we do this again?”

“I’d like that.”

When the song ended, they moved toward the bar, only to see their seats occupied, so they moved along the bar until they found two empty stools.

They stayed until midnight. Brett had only one whiskey, then switched to soda. JoJo hadn’t had over two alcoholic drinks and switched to soda.

As he drove them to her apartment, JoJo’s nerves were kicking in. Would he kiss her goodnight? Did she want him to?Well, hell yeah, she did. She’d bet her last dollar he knew how to use those sexy lips. She tried not to squirm, but she couldn’t help it.

“Relax,” he said.

“This part always makes me nervous.”

“Why?”

She hesitated.Go for it.

“Are you going to kiss me?”

Brett laughed.

“Do you want me to?”

“Yes, but…”
