“No. I don’t, but I also don’t want you to think I’m rushing you into anything.”

Brett rolled onto his back and stared up at the sky.

“I don’t feel like we’re rushing this. I like you, JoJo. A hell of a lot, and if it turns into more, I’m fine with that. I enjoy being with you.”

She touched his cheek. “I like our time together too, not just in bed. That’s still a pleasant bonus, though.”

Brett grinned, pushed to his feet, and helped her up.

“Let’s do a little fishing. Then we’ll go back and hit the pool.”

“Sounds good.”

They rode back into the barn two hours later, cooled the horses, then walked to the house.

“If you want to change into your suit, I’ll meet you at the pool,” Brett said.

JoJo hung her hat on the peg, folded her arms, and stared at him. He raised an eyebrow.

“I brought a different suit.” She winked, walked past him, and left the kitchen.

“Son of a bitch,” he murmured as he chased her down the hallway, but she entered the bathroom and closed the door.

He changed into his trunks and headed to the pool to wait for her. He heard the door open behind him, turned to face her, and his jaw went slack. She wore a navy blue bikini that was barely there, and it made his mouth water.

“Holy shit,” he said, watching as she raised an eyebrow. “Did I say that out loud?” He chuckled when she laughed.

The day passed quickly, and they had a great time. Brett was sure he’d never been happier.

Monday morning, JoJo entered the bakery and locked the door behind her. Then she walked into the kitchen and flipped the lights on. She pulled her apron on, took cupcakes from the container, set a dozen on a tray, carried it to the front, and slid it into a glass case. She did this until they were full, then wiped off the glass and tables. She stared out the window to see the sun shining brightly. It would be a beautiful day.

JoJo was so engrossed in staring out the window that she jumped when the door opened, and Nancy entered.

“Good morning, JoJo.”

“Hi, Nancy. Did you have a good Sunday?”

“I did. I feel so much better now and ready to get back to full time. How was yours?” Nancy said over her shoulder as she walked toward the kitchen.

JoJo sighed. “I had a wonderful day.”

Nancy laughed. “With Brett again, huh?”

“Yes. We went riding and fished at a pond on his property, and when we got back to the house, we went swimming.”

“I’ve heard a lot about him and would love to meet him.”

“He’s coming by today, and we’re going to lunch at the diner.”

“Great. Make sure you introduce me.”

“I will.”

Nancy leaned against the door jamb to the kitchen. “You’re in love with him.”

“No-yes.” She sighed. “We talked about this happening too fast.”
