“I love you,” she whispered.

“It’s about damn time, darlin’. I love you too.”

“I know.”

Alex chuckled. “Of course, you do. So, now what do we do?”

“Be together?”

“There is nothing I want more.”

“And Zoey?”

“I love her too. I want us to be a family.”

“She loves you, Alex. I don’t want her hurt.”

“I will never intentionally hurt either of you. I promise.”

“I believe you, and I want to be with you too. Will you live here?”

“If that’s what you want.”

“I want you anyway I can get you, Agent Alexander Reeves.”

Alex grinned. “I’m happy to hear that, darlin’.”

“Zoey has to take a nap soon,” she whispered.

“Really? Sounds like a good time for us to take one.”

Dylan laughed. “I am a little tired.”

Alex leaned close and whispered in her ear.

“You’re going to be a lot more than a little tired when I get done with you.”

“Can’t wait. Let’s watch some TV and then we can all nap.” She winked at him, making him grin.

“Sounds good.” He took her hand, led her to the living room, and they sat on the sofa while Zoey played on the floor with Peaches.

Dylan was so happy that everything had worked out and Alex was with her. She knew he’d never hurt her like Travis did. She also knew that Alex would love her until his last breath, and she’d do the same with him. His loving Zoey was an added bonus, but Dylan knew he did, and he’d provide for both of them.

She couldn’t wait to tell Marlowe and Peyton that she had found herself a good cowboy. One she never planned to let go.

Alex glanced around Dewey’s and smiled as he watched Dylan walking around, talking with people. It was their engagement party. Scarlett and Noah hosted the party for them. Since it was Sunday, the bar was closed, but packed with people from Clifton, Spring City, and Hartland to help them celebrate.

“Alex?”

“Hey, Dad. I’m glad you could make it.”

“Son, I wouldn’t miss it for the world. I’m happy for you,” Brooks said with a grin. “Dylan is a wonderful woman, and I adore Zoey.”

“She feels the same about you.”

“Quite a crowd.”
