He turns around and arches a brow. “What?”

“Does it really have to be like this?” I ask, gesturing between the two of us. “I miss my brother, the one who was always there for me.”

He scoffs. “Oh, you mean the one you keep the truth from?”

“You know it wasn’t that simple, Dom. The way you reacted as soon as he said something is the exact reason why we kept it to ourselves for a while.” I shake my head with a frown. “This is supposed to be a time full of love and getting ready for our daughter’s arrival, yet he’s there, and I’m here. He and I haven’t talked in a week, you know that?”

Dominic shrugs. “I could’ve told you that’s how it would go, it’s just who Emmett is. He’s never been one for commitment.”

“Are you serious? You punched him, Dom! What did you think he would do after that? Whisk me away with him and risk hurting his best friend even more? Looks like you’re more of an idiot than I thought.”

“Don’t put this on me,” he growls out, slamming the cup that’s now empty onto the island. “You never should’ve done it in the first place, you knew how I felt about it.”

“You don’t think I realize that? I can’t help the way I feel, Dominic, there’s no stopping love when it’s there.”

“What do you mean ‘love’?” He asks, crossing his arms in front of himself as he leans against the edge of the counter.

“I love him, Dom. We’ve gotten closer and closer as the time went on, and I realized I had everything wrong about him. He’s sweet and takes care of me in a way I’ve never been cared for before. There’s never a time when he’s not watching me, protecting me like a man should. The way he makes me feel by simply walking into a room rivals anything else I’ve ever felt.” I shake my head and frown. “I’ve fallen in love with him, and now he’s gone, right along with my brother who can’t seem to get his head out of his ass for a few minutes to notice that his sister is hurting.”

“Casey,” Dominic starts, then he sighs. “What do you want me to do?”

“I want you to stay the hell out of it. You don’t get to dictate who I end up with, even if that’s Emmett. There’s a chance for us to be a family, and I’m not going to let you ruin that for some pact you made with him years ago.” I blow out a rough breath and give him a sad smile. “I apologize for keeping everything from you, and I’m done doing that. You need to stay out of it.”

Dominic nods, although he looks a little unsure, and spreads his arms out wide. “I was sick of giving you the silent treatment anyway.” He tightens his arms around me when I walk up to him, then pulls away slightly to look me in the eyes. “Give me time to get onboard, but I won’t keep you from him if he’s the one you truly want. I just want you to be happy, sis. Is that really going to be with him?”

“Yes,” I whisper. “He’s all I’ve been able to think about all week, Dominic. It feels like nothing I’ve ever experienced before, and there’s no letting it go. He’s got every bit of my heart, no matter how much I tried fighting it at first.”

He smiles. “I’m glad you found the love you deserve, even if it is with Emmett. But if he does anything to hurt you, I’ll kill him – best friend or not.”

I’m practically shaking with the need to rush out of the house and head to Emmett’s place. As if sensing my growing excitement, Dominic scoffs and pushes me toward the front door. “Go to him, Casey.”

I pull up to Emmett’s house in record time, noting his car sitting in the driveway, and take a deep breath before stepping out of the car. The sun is getting lower with each passing minute until everything is covered in darkness, aside from the light shining through the large windows in his living room. I’m frozen in place, watching through the glass as he sinks onto the couch.

Does he not see me out here, or does he just not care?

No, I’m not going to ruin this moment before it’s even happened. The only way to find out how he feels is to get up on that front porch and knock on his door, then hope for the best. I square my shoulders and lift my head higher before starting up the small staircase, coming to a stop right outside the door.

My knock is shaky and stiff, my heart racing with the possibility that this will go in an entirely different direction than I’m imagining. I want desperately for him to spin me around in his entryway, smiling brightly at the prospect of being a family of three while telling me how much he’s come to love me. What if that’s not the case, though?

I’m the one who chose to come here for my pleasure, but that doesn’t mean he’s felt anything more than that. It could’ve been a way for him to get over the stress of the casino and bury himself in something that isn’t his work, and that thought makes my stomach curl with anxiety. This was a bad idea. I should’ve waited for him to get a hold of me before coming here. Just as I turn around, more than ready to rush back to the car, his front door is being pulled open, and my breath gets stuck in my throat.

“Casey,” Emmett rasps. “What are you doing here?” When I turn around, his gaze is darting everywhere around us, probably worrying that Dominic followed me or something. “You shouldn’t be here.”

I frown. “Do you not want me here?”

He sighs and shakes his head. “That’s not it. We can’t do this.”

“Because of Dominic?” I ask, smiling when he nods in response. “I’ve taken care of that, Emmett.” I’m not sure where my confidence comes from, but I find myself inching closer to him, forcing him to step back until I’m pushing through the opening. “I explained everything to him, and he’s not a problem anymore. He practically pushed me out the door to come here.”

Emmett scrunches his eyebrows together, a storm brewing in his gaze as he wars with the thoughts in his head. He’s probably going to try denying this spark between us, but I’m not going to let him do that if I can help it.

“There’s something I need to tell you before I get on my knees, Emmett,” I say with a smirk, bringing my hand over his cheek that’s still bruised from the punch Dominic threw last week. “I love you. It wasn’t supposed to happen, but it did, and now I’m going to take what I want.”

His eyes heat at my words, then I’m dropping to the floor and pulling his pants down his legs in the process. I’ve been without his touch for a week, and it’s no surprise that my pussy is practically weeping for him, more than ready for what’s to come. “Casey,” Emmett growls out, placing his hands on my shoulders. “Are you sure about this?”

I smile, my hand wrapping around his length. “Never been more sure about anything in my life.” Before the conversation can go any further, I open my mouth and take him deep in my throat. He sighs from the pleasure, rocking his hips gently into my mouth, and I steal a glance up at him,
