“I’m working on it, ma’am. Right now, I know for a fact that there are at least six other politicians.”

“The POTUS on that list?” asked Nate.

“No. But I have a theory if you’d like to hear it, sir.”

“Enlighten me,” said Nate.

“Think of who benefits from Judge being on the Court. The POTUS. Why? Because he would help to pass the bill about the weapons factories. And who does that help?”

“But I thought the president was opposed to that,” said Harlow.

“He pretended as if he were opposed. If they could prove, or manufacture proof, that you all are going rogue, he’d flip his opinion in a heartbeat.”

“I need to do this press conference, Nate. I know you don’t want me to, but I can bring forth evidence that shows what he and Morrison were doing under the table.”

“Babe, he’s already said he thinks you’re ‘troubled.’ They may not believe you.”

“They’d believe her if a psychologist were present with her at the conference,” said Ashley. Trevor stared at her, shaking his head. “Trevor, I can use my maiden name. They won’t know where I’m located or where I practice.”

“It’s too dangerous, Ashley,” said Nate. “They could track your professional licensing and come to the clinic. We don’t want that. Trevor’s right. It’s too dangerous.”

“Then we get an outside opinion,” said Ashley. “We can contact someone at UNO or Tulane, one of the local hospital affiliates. They’d be more than happy to do an unbiased consult for us.”

“Okay,” said Harlow. “Then please do it. Also, if anyone has the information on the death of my sister, I’d like to throw that against the wall and see what sticks. Parents or not, they’re going to jail if I have my way.” She kissed Nate’s cheek, leaving the room with Lane, Ivy, and Avery.

“You did good, Tyler,” said Nine. “I’ll call you in a few minutes, and we’ll talk about settling that debt of yours.”

“Thank you, sir. My m-mom passed yesterday, so I’ll be making her funeral arrangements today. I just couldn’t get everything straight for her,” he said, sniffing, shaking his head. Antoine and Baptiste looked at Nine, their unspoken language understood by everyone.

“Tyler, two men will be up there shortly to help you. We’re going to make this right for your mom. When you’re done, let’s talk about an opportunity here.”

“Are you fucking kidding me, sir?”

“No,” laughed Nine. He looked at his son and the other leadership members. “At least, I don’t think so. The leadership team will need to interview and speak with you.” Cam shook his head laughing at his tough as nails father. The big softy.

“Take care of your mom, Tyler. We’ll see you next week.”

CHAPTER NINETEEN

“Just speak naturally, Harlow,” said Lane. “Ivy will be filming the entire thing. As you can see, the set looks very generic, and no one will know where you are or what you’re doing. Once we have the script from the legal team, we’ll put it into the teleprompter, and you’ll be able to read every word.”

“I’m so nervous,” she said, twisting her hands.

“You don’t have to do this, honey,” said Avery. She brushed a highlighter along her brow, standing back to admire her work. “You have great bones.”

“Thank you,” she smirked. “I do have to do this, though. I know that I do. If I don’t, no one will know the truth. No one will even know that Garbo existed. She deserves peace.

“By putting this out there, it will make the news agencies curious and pursue them. That’s what we all want and need.”

“Okay,” nodded Lane. “I’ve reached out to some of my contacts I still have with the agencies. The good news is none of them are buying the suddenly buddy-buddy relationship between the POTUS and your father. It all seems too convenient, given the death of Morrison. What I’ve told them is that a confidential informant has given us some information that will be broadcast to everyone.”

“Harlow, you remember Dr. Waters,” said Tila, walking into the room. “He’ll be seated with you while on camera. We will take questions from reporters via the chat room the boys have set up specifically for this.”

Harlow nodded, looking around the room. Kari, Kat, Katrina, Georgie, Tila, and Maggie were all smiling at her.

“The entire legal team?” frowned Harlow.

“We’re going to make sure we’re covering all bases,” smiled Tila. “You just focus on the script.”
