“Wow,” I whispered, my heart beginning to beat even faster now.

Nick’s room was huge.

And it definitely was Nick’s room.

His familiar, spicy scent wafted up my nose as I inhaled deeply.

My eyes shot directly to his enormous bed across the room. It was a four-poster bed, made of the same dark wood that I’d seen on the walls and doorways.

Four, long columns on each corner of the bed.

Nick had written down “light bondage” in one of his client surveys. But he hadn’t tried it yet. Well, not with me anyway.

Looking at his bed, it seemed the perfect place for it, though.

I imagined lying on my back, naked. My arms and legs tied to each post while Nick did whatever he pleased.

I squeezed my thighs together just thinking about all the things we could do on his big bed.

Well, I hoped he would take me to his bed and not just come to mine downstairs.

The complete grandeur of this room made me smile.

It really was over the top.

Long, heavy, red curtains.

Two black, leather couches and a red velvet one.

Large wooden dressers and two armoires that looked fit for a king.

And a queen.

My fingers practically itched to touch his bed. I strode up to it and felt the black and red, satin duvet. I worried it between my fingers, sighing as I thought about how delicious it would feel to slip underneath it without any clothes on.

How soft it would feel on my skin.

“Do you like what you see?” A deep voice startled me out of my daydream, and I jumped back from the bed.

I clutched my hand to my chest and said, “Oh my gosh, you scared me.” My stomach twisted as I feared what Nick might do.Would he be mad at me for snooping around?

He stood in the doorway, arms crossed. “Cherry, I asked you a question.”

My brain scattered and raced around, trying to think about what he’d asked. “Yes, your home is amazing, Nick. I hope you don’t mind me looking around. I got lonely in my room, so I decided to search for you.”

A slow smirk spread across his handsome face. “You always know exactly what to say, don’t you?” he asked as he made his way toward me. My heart stuttered while I watched him practically stalk straight to me.

When he neared, I took a couple of steps and wrapped my arms around him in a hug. Immediately, he pulled me into his warm body. “I missed you,” I said, moving my head back so I could look at him.

He smiled down at me before touching his lips to mine. “I’m looking forward to a month of having you here. Feel free to move around the house. The only room that’s off limits is my office downstairs. There’s a lock on the door. Otherwise, do as you please.”

“What about your room?” I asked in a quiet voice, suddenly feeling small in his arms. “Am I allowed in here whenever I want?”

His head lowered, and he kissed me briefly. “You may be in here whenever you’re invited. All right?”

I practically felt my heart crumple up, but I refused to let it show. Instead, I smiled and said, “Sounds good. Next time, I’ll wait patiently for my invitation.” My voice sounded steady and—normal. At least I hoped it did.

“I have a feeling you’ll be receiving many invitations over the next month—Cherry.” Then his eyes searched my face for a few seconds before he said, “We have one matter to go over first.”
