Nick let out a deep, loud laugh. “Stefan, you bastard,” he said, then quickly stuck out his hand to the handsome pig from the elevator. “Why the hell didn’t you tell me you were coming into town?”

Ah, the handsome pig had a name.

And, apparently, was BFF’s with Nick.

Wonderful.

“You know I come whenever I want to,” Stefan said with a sexy grin. Everything the man said sounded like a double entendre. And I was mad at myself for loving it. “You seem to have your own voluptuous surprise right here?”

His eyebrows bounced slightly as he winked at me.

And, yeah, I could feel my nipples tingle as I clenched my lower belly.

Nick let go of his friend’s hand and turned back to me. His arm slipped around my shoulders, and he said, “This, is Eve Hayward.” Even I could hear the pride in his voice. It made me more than happy to see how eager Nick seemed to show me off.

“Eve,” Stefan said, his hand reaching out for mine, “what a lovely name. We met briefly in the elevator, where I did my best to get into her panties.”

That made me silently gasp—but, against my better judgment, I shook his hand anyway. “He wasn’t successful,” I said blandly, glancing over at Nick.

Stefan leaned into me and spoke into my ear, “Yet.” He gave me a shiver that traveled from my ear, all the way down to my pussy.

Crap.

I was not attracted to my boyfriend’s BFF.

No matter how conflicted I felt, I took a step back and frowned at him. “I think you mean ‘never’.”

Stefan held onto my hand tighter and laughed as though I’d said the most hilarious thing ever. “Oh, angel, never say never.” Then he gave my hand one last, tight squeeze before letting it go.

“Leave it to you to find the only woman in this entire building who’s mine—and come onto her,” Nick said with a genuine chuckle.

“I think you mean, I found the only gorgeous, lush, beautiful woman in the building. I should have known you’d already claimed her for yourself. It wouldn’t be like you to let one this lovely slip through your grasp.” Stefan patted Nick on the shoulder, and they both laughed again.

“Barely let her out of my sight,” Nick said, shooting me a grin that warmed my heart.

“That’s wise, my friend. But, maybe you’d consider sharing a little bit of your good fortune with your best friend?” Stefan asked, giving me a sexy, half-smirk.

And once again, my body betrayed me. I felt heat flow through me at his insinuation.

I needed to get out of here.

“How about lunch?”

A sense of relief washed over me, and I felt my shoulders relax. Nick would take his friend out, and leave me here.

Stefan’s gaze raked over me. “Only if Eve comes, too?” One of his eyebrows raised up, causing another tingle at his look and the likely double meaning of his words.

“Of course, Eve loves to take long lunches. Don’t you, my dear?”

Eve

They mostly spent their time reminiscing and talking about their old school days.

I didn’t know this, but Nick had attended an exclusive boarding school in London when he was a kid. It had surprised me that he didn’t share this with me.

But his impeccable manners now made sense.
