The cool water and exercise had worn off any buzz I’d had from the three glasses of wine. It was getting close to suppertime, and my stomach started grumbling.

I sauntered up the pool steps and grabbed my towel to dry off.

Again, I heard Stefan’s low whistle.

When I turned toward the men, Nick waved me over. I slid into my sandals and walked in his direction, squeezing out my hair as I went.

“Come, sit for minute,” Nick said, patting his leg.

Stefan copied him and said, “Maybe she’d rather sit on mine?”

As I sat on Nick’s leg, I smiled politely at Stefan even though his comments were always of a sexual nature. “Are you getting hungry? Stefan and I had a lite snack, but we need something more substantial. I called Giselle and made arrangements. We are free for the night.”

A small bit of dread mixed with anticipation traveled over me. “Oh, okay,” I said, sliding my arm around his neck. “Would you like me to cook? I don’t see the staff around.”

“I told them they could have the weekend off,” Nick said, his hand hot on my back.

Stefan set his hand on my knee. “You’re far too pretty to cook. Go shower and get all dolled up. We’ll take you out for a night you’ll never forget.”

Eve

“What are you studying at college?” Stefan asked, taking his first forkful of cherry cheesecake.

I’d debated between the cheesecake or the decadent brownie.

The brownie had won.

But now that I saw the cheesecake, I knew I’d made a mistake.

The brownie was delicious, don’t get me wrong.

It’s just that the cheesecake looked extra fluffy and rich.

Darnit.

My eyes watched as he brought the fork of dripping cheesecake to his mouth.

He opened and engulfed the fork, managing to not spill a drop.

“Umm, just finishing off my journalism degree,” I said, still staring at his lips. He licked them and I automatically felt my lower belly clench.

“How wonderful. How many classes do you need?” he asked, seeming quite interested.

I answered something back to him. I couldn’t really tell you what. The cheesecake and Stefan’s mouth were far too intriguing at the moment.

He filled his fork again and held it up. “Would you like to try a bite? I know I certainly would.”

I inhaled deeply and looked right at Nick. He was smiling and nodding his head at Stefan’s fork. “Try it, you just might like it.” I’d had two large glasses of wine. But even so, the way Nick spoke—that sounded like a double meaning as well.

“No, it’s fine. I have this brownie that I’ll never finish,” I said, pointing down to the chocolate masterpiece in front of me.

“Open up, Eve,” Stefan said, holding his fork closer to my mouth now.

There really wasn’t much I could do, other than causing a scene. So, I opened up as Stefan slid his fork inside my mouth. “Mmm,” I said, closing my eyes in pure ecstasy. “This is so good,” I said, savoring every taste in my mouth.

The cherries were warm and gooey and sweet on top of the pillowy soft cheesecake.
