“I don’t know,” She was annoyed, embarrassed and pissed off.

“Okay, I’ll talk to her, see what he is about and I’ll let you know. She would rather know if there is any conflict between people sooner than later.”

June remembered Margaret telling her that she didn’t want Ben on the island. “Okay.” Her face relaxed looking at him.

Crumbs sat in his beard, “You need to eat though.”

“I’ll eat it.” Her arms became heavy. “Later.”

“Just promise me you’ll eat.”

“I will.” She knew she would, she just wasn’t in the mood, she was sick of the mind games. If it was Ben or not, this wasn’t fun for her. She began to feel that her mind was playing games with her. She hadn’t seen him in three months and maybe she was forgetting what he looked like. June would pray that was true.

Chapter Twenty One

April Twenty Ninth

Juniper

June swept the dirt pile in the kitchen, finishing the chores that needed to be done before their barbecue that Wolfie decided to host. It would be the second time June and Wolfie would be with Fade, Whitney, Shianne and Max, all together. “Okay, I’m going to go shower.” She told Brittanya who was cutting up a watermelon behind her.

“Okay, I should probably shower soon too, we have under two hours before people start showing up.”

June smiled at her as she turned down the hall and into her room. She picked up her phone off the dresser and it blinked on. A message from Wolfie had popped up, timestamped an hour before.

Wolfgang ‘Can’t wait to see you.Is itbring your own meat today? I’ll grab yours too.”

Juniper ‘Thank you, when will you be here?’

Wolfgang ‘I just got done at the gym, I was going to shower and stop at the supply store on my way. So an hour to an hour and a half? I’m not sure.’

Juniper ‘Okay, I just finished cleaning, I’m hopping in the shower. Are you spending the night? I don’t remember getting a definite answer or not.”

Wolfgang ‘Yes.’

Wolfgang

Wolfgang set his grocery bag on the counter, “Hey,” He kissed June longer than normal.

“What was that for?” She questioned him.

He grinned, “You mentioned your shower, how was it?”

“It was,” She paused thinking of the right word, “fine.”

“Would have been better if it was with me.” He held on to her and tugged at the skirt of her modest sundress. She rolled her eyes realizing any word would have had him make that comment after, good, bad, great, amazing.

June pushed away, “What do we have in here?” She pulled out packaged meat, chips and a whole pie. “Pie?”

“That’s for later,” He winked at June.

“Oh my gosh Wolfie.” Brittanya closed the door from the backyard. “Gross.”

He smiled, caught red handed. “For dessert.”

“Mhmm. Sure.” She opened the fridge pulling out a pitcher of cold water.

The front door chimed opening and Whitney and Fade spilled into the living room. She had her infamous bag that followed her from Fade’s house with endless loads of laundry inside. “Hey guys.” She set her bag on the couch and grabbed the few bags from Fade, bringing them to the kitchen. “Will you help me with this?” She had Fade carry her bag down the hall to her room and the tick of the door latching sounded down the hall.
