“Here is the wine,” Tanya says as she pours us each a glass, breaking Cam and I’s eye contact. “Are you ready to order?

We both order the chicken parmigiana and make small talk while we wait for our food.

Tanya brings our meals out seventeen minutes later and we eat in silence. Both trying to take in the fact that we were attracted to each other. I am hoping Cam is still just as attracted to me as she was when we were younger.

We finish eating just as the band's upbeat pop song goes into a slow song.

“Will you dance with me?” Cam asks fluttering her eyelashes.

I am not one to dance but who could say no to that face?

I stand up and hold out my hand. Cam takes my hand in hers and drags me toward the makeshift dancefloor where a handful of couples are twirling under the stars.

We get as close to the band as we can and I place my hands on Cam’s hips as she places hers on my shoulders.

Swaying together we maintain eye contact.

The full moon is high above us and illuminates the night for us. The moon shines its light on Cam and makes her look like a goddess sent down to Earth just to tempt me. There is nothing I want more in that moment then to confess to Cam how she is making me feel. I don’t just want her body, which I do want, but I want her mind as well. I want all of her and to call her mine.

“You really are beautiful,” I say to Cam.

She smiles at me before leaning up and kissing me on the cheek. My cheek burns from the kiss in the most glorious way. It was as if her touch branded me, claiming me as hers.

“Thank you Parker,” Cam says before setting her head on my chest.

We sway together for the rest of the song just holding each other. I fear Cam can hear my heart pounding in my chest but I also hope she does. I want her to know just how badly I yearn for her.

A flash to our right catches my attention. The paparazzi are here. Did Cam only kiss my cheek because she saw them or did she really just want to kiss me?

My brain is on fire as more flashes resound around us.

After the song ends I clear my throat, “Want to get out of here?”

Cam nods at me.

I quickly pay for the meal, giving a hefty tip before grabbing Cam’s hand and walking back towards the waiting driver. It’s a short ride home and there’s a park nearby that I want to take Cam too before the night is over.

Chapter 9 - Camdyn Schriefer

Tonight is perfect.

Dinner was spectacular. The food, the music, the dancing. Everything felt right and now walking down the street hand in hand with Parker Madison, I feel on top of the world.

“Where are we going?” I ask as I swing our hands playfully.

Parker thinks I’m beautiful and it makes me giddy knowing that.

“I want to show you something, its only a couple blocks away.”

I nod, trusting Parker.

As we walk, I can’t help but ramble.

“My ex would never treat me as nicely as you have tonight,” I confess out of no where startling myself.

“Tell me about him,” Parker says glancing at me from the side of his eye.

“His name was Johnny Anderson. He is the main reason I moved. After Josie’s death I was desperate for affection and Johnny offered it. He said he loved me after our third date and I believed him but after a couple of months he turned abusive.”
