I look at my watch and see that I need to leave for work as soon as possible if I want to get there on time.
Sneaking out of bed, trying not to wake Cam, I make my way back to my room.
I don’t have enough time to shower but I quickly change into a dark blue suit with a purple tie. Before I leave I sneak my head into Maisey’s room and see she is still asleep. I enter the room and give her a light kiss on the forehead before leaving for work.
The drive to work goes by fast as I try to concentrate on the road as opposed to Cam’s supple body.
Once at work, Cynthia informs me that there is a board meeting right after lunch which causes me to groan.
From what I remember yesterday there was no meeting so this is not good.
Working on Saturday’s suck enough as is but having to attend a board meeting makes me dread the day even more.
I spend the next hour checking emails before my phone dings, alerting me to a new text.
It is from Cam.
Parker. I am so sorry about last night. I didn’t plan for that to happen. You and Maisey mean so much to me and I would never do anything to jeopardize our relationship on purpose.
My throat tightens at the text.
Did Cam regret our intimate night together? She seemed very into it during the moment.
Anger fills my body at the thought that she is backtracking now. What happened last night meant a lot to me and I would not mind a repeat.
So, I text her back.
Camdyn Schriefer, I am offended by your words and I am not sorry in the slightest. Last night was magnificent and I hope that you will attend the fair tonight with Maisey and I.
I feel confident with my text. I needed to let Cam know I have no regrets. She is not risking losing Maisey and I with what transpired last night. If anything we have grown even closer.
My phone dings again and I pick it up eagerly.
If you are sure, I’d love to join you two.
Cam texts me.
My heart sores at her response. The fair is something Maisey adores going to and having Cam on my arm will make the night even more magical.
I spend the rest of the morning with a huge grin on my face and when it is time for the board meeting I feel as if nothing can bring me down.
The meeting room is full when I finally make it there. Everyone from the board is there when I walk in and all eyes are on me.
“What’s going on?” I ask as I take my seat at the head of the table.
Everyone looks around and I am met with silence.
“I came in on a Saturday and saw that there was an emergency meeting. I expect someone to explain why or else this meeting is over,” I say sternly.
I see Stanley Magnus gulp before he starts speaking, “You have been in the news quite a lot recently.”
My spine stiffens but I keep my cool.
“Is that a problem?” I am fearful of what everyone is going to do.
Will my newfound publicity be negative for our company?
