“The opposite actually,” Lila Strong says. “We actually wanted to congratulate you on your upcoming nuptials.”

My heart froze at her words. I know that having a fake fiancée would spread but I didn’t imagine that my coworkers would find out so soon.

“Yeah, we are happy for you boss,” Earl Cash says with a smile.

I am met with more congratulations from the board and a grin breaks out on my face. Everyone is being supportive of me and Cam.

“When do we get to meet the little lady?” Stanley asks.

I shrug, unsure of if that is the best idea but the smile on my face is unbreakable.

Everyone wants to meet Cam and I just know they will love her.

Chapter 11 - Camdyn Schriefer

Looking down at my jean shorts and yellow tank top, I wonder if I am underdressed for the occasion.

Back in Piedmont, the town was so small that the only fairs we had were like block parties that everyone could attend. I figure that the fairs in New York City are going to be very big and I have no clue how to dress.

My brown cowboy boots remind me of home in a good way but also make me feel like I am too small for the big city.

I shake out my curled brown hair as I exit my bedroom.

“You look pretty,” Maisey says as she runs to me and grabs onto my leg.

“Thanks, Maisey. So, do you.”

Maisey has on black pants and a pink shirt with a heart on it. She looks adorable as always. Her brown locks are up in two pigtails and they shake everytime she moves.

“My two girls look amazing,” Parker says as he looks me up and down.

A blush overtakes my cheeks as Maisey lets go of my leg and runs to her father. Hearing Parker call me his girl is doing something unspeakable to my body. A rush of wetness forms in my underwear and my heart skips a beat. I know I should not be feeling these things, especially in front of Maisey but I cannot control how my body reacts to Parker.

“Daddy! Are we leaving now?” Maisey yells out.

“Yes darling, it’s fair time!”

We all head down stairs and get in Parker’s driver's car. With it being New York City, I imagine parking for the fair is nonexistent so it makes sense we are getting dropped off.

Maisey and Parker are deep in conversation the whole drive there so I just stare out the window at all the big buildings as we drive to the outskirts of the city to a park where the fair is being held.

As we pull up to the fair, I am shocked to see not only rides and food trucks but standing tall in the center of the park is a Ferris Wheel. In Piedmont there was never anything as big as this.

“Wow,” I mutter as we get out of the car.

“I know,” Parker says as he takes my hand in his.

A shiver runs down my spine at the interaction and I try not to get too emotional. I know we have had sex but this is also just a fake engagement. We are putting on a show, which is evident from the camera flash I hear and see as we walk into the fair.

“Why are you two holding hands?” Maisey’s sudden words cause me to freeze.

I look up to Parker and he smiles down at Maisey before messing up her hair.“Sometimes two adults who care about each other express it through hand holding.” Parker explains.

Maisey shrugs before running off to play a game where she has to toss a ring on a plastic duck. I run after her and watch as she tosses ring after ring, missing every time. She starts to whine.

“Why can’t I do this?”

“Here let me,” I say before taking a ring in my hand and tossing it. I miss the first duck but make the next two tosses.
