Her warm eyes connect with my own and I smirk. She may not be used to such nice places but I am.
“It isn’t bad… better than Piedmont,” I nudge her shoulder with my own.
Cam leans her head back and a loud laugh escapes her. My eyes watch her throat and I want nothing more than to nibble on her long neck. She has the smoothest skin and I want to mark her as mine.
“You can be funny Mr. Madison,” Cam says as her laughter dies down.
Funny is not something most people would describe me as but I take it.
“Thanks Ms. Schriefer, you are definitely funnier than I remember.”
Cam nudges my shoulder with her own, similarly to how I just did, before she kicks out her foot making a splash.
“Daddy watch this!”
I look up and see Maisey jump in the pool, splashing both Cam and I.
My hair is soaked and Cam is laughing her angelic laugh once again.
“I think it is time we go,” I say standing up and trying to dry myself off.
Cam stands as well and Maisey pouts. Cam runs to grab a towel for Maisey as I help my daughter out of the pool.
The mood with Cam and I is ruined and as I watch Cam help Maisey dry off, I am hit in the chest with despair. One day these two are not going to be close anymore and Cam will be gone.
Maisey lets Cam dry her hair before putting her dress back on. Maisey looks adorable with her messed up brown locks.
“Let’s go ladies,” I call out from the end of the pool.
“We’re coming,” Cam yells back.
We head out. The ride back to the penthouse is filled with laughter from Cam and Maisey but silence from me. My heart is not in it to pretend that I am in a good mood.
I have had a realization that Cam is going to break Maisey’s heart when she leaves one day and maybe even my own.
We enter the penthouse in silence.
Maisey runs to her room to get ready for bed and Cam and I follow. Once we make it to Maisey’s doorway, I stop Cam.
“I think it’s best if I just put Cam to bed tonight,” I tell Cam.
Cam nods in understanding. It is her night off.
“Very well, goodnight, Parker.” Cam kisses me on the cheek before turning and making her way towards her room. I watch her ass as she walks off but shake my head once Maisey calls for me.
“Daddy, I had a good day,” Maisey informs me as she is in her brown mouse pajamas.
Maisey looks adorable with her hair all messy and her brown pajamas on.
“I’m glad you had a good day sweetie but now it is time for bed.”
“I know and this week Cam is taking me to the zoo. I can’t wait!”
I knew this already as Cam asked my permission earlier this week but I wish I can go with them. It is always a blessing to spend time with my daughter and my fears of Cam breaking her heart hit me tenfold.
I kiss Maisey on the forehead before reading her a story. As Maisey fades into sleep, I watch quietly. I don’t want her to be heartbroken and I will admit, I don’t want my heart to be broken either.
Leaving Maisey’s side I head to my study but not before peeping into Cam’s room. Her bedroom is empty but I can hear the shower running.
