Mrs. Connelley opens the door with a wide tooth grin.

“Parker, it's good to see you again and not in a hurry,” Mrs. Connelley says before glancing at my hand then up to Cam.

“And who is this lovely woman?”

“That’s my mommy,” Maisey yells out as she peaks her head around Mrs. Connelley’s legs.

Mrs. Connelley’s eyes widen and a smile floats onto her mouth.

“Well, I never thought I’d see the day,” she says. “But I am happy for you.”

I rub the back of my neck as I smile.

Cam squeezes my hand and I bump her shoulder with my own.

Maisey scoots past Mrs. Connelley and grabs onto Cam’s leg. “I’m tired. Can we go home now?”

“Of course sweetie but thank Mrs. Connelley for watching you first.”

“Thanks Shirley,” Maisey said.

I had no idea that was Mrs. Connelley’s name but she reaches down and gives Maisey a high five before shutting the door as we walk away.

“You and Mrs. Connelley have gotten on a first name basis?” I ask Maisey.

“Shirley and I go way back,” Maisy shrugs as we take the elevator up to our floor.

I pick Maisey up and she squeals, “I missed you little one.”

“We were only apart for a few hours daddy!”

“Still, it's Sunday funday and we barely got any time together.”

“Read me a story before taking a nap?”

“Of course,” I say, kissing her on the forehead. “Cam, how about I meet you in the living room in half an hour and we can continue our chat.”

Cam nods before walking off to her own room.

Carrying Maisey to her room, I read her the story of the three little pigs and Maisey loves it.

“Why isn’t mommy reading with us?” Maisey asks once I finish.

I swallow, not used to Maisey referring to Cam as her mommy.

“It’s her day off,” I say.

“Mommy’s don’t take days off,” Maisey says with her eyes scrunched before yawning.

She is right but Cam is still just a nanny with a fake title of my fiancée. My blood runs cold at the thought of Maisey’s heartbreaking once Cam is gone.

“You are right but I think it's nap time,” I sing.

Maisey nods and rolls over. I turn the lights off and shut the door. I lean my head against the door and take a deep breath.

I am overwhelmed. From seeing that picture of Josie to hearing Maisey calling someone, not her mother, mother. It is all just too much. I want to join Maisey and take a nap but I have to talk to Cam. Things are running through my mind that need to be discussed.
