“May I ask what this is about?” He still stood with the door partially open, his body blocking their view inside.

“It has to do with my daughter. I promise I won’t take too long and these guys will wait out here.” Race was trying to be nice despite how bad he wanted to shove his way inside and shake the shit out of the lying son of a bitch. The only thing keeping his temper in check was how badly he’d fuck things up for Liza if he did.

“Well, I suppose. I’d appreciate it if the others waited outside.”

Race turned and nodded at his brothers. He waited for Mr. Walker to open the door and invite him inside. He led Race and Derrick toward the living room. “I’m afraid Clay isn’t at 100% right now. He was injured in a game earlier tonight.”

Sure enough, Clay was reclining back on the couch with a bag of ice in his lap.

“If you could give us just a minute?” Race gave Clay’s dad a reassuring smile.

Mr. Walker frowned and looked toward his son. “Clay, Derrick and his father are here to speak to you about his daughter.” His gaze bore into his son, silently asking what was going on.

Clay swallowed hard and his face paled as he got a good look at them. “Sure. Dad, can you get me another ice pack? This one’s melting.”

Mr. Walker didn’t like it, but he took the half-melted bag of ice and left the room.

Race moved to sit on the coffee table directly in front of Clay, while Derrick stood behind him with his arms crossed over his chest. He leaned his elbows on his knees and took him in. “From the way you looked at me, I’d think you already knew who I was and why I’m here.”

“Yes. I think I do. You’re Liza’s dad and you’re president of the Sons of Redemption MC.” Clay flinched as he moved to sit with his feet on the floor. He got ghostly white, closed his eyes and appeared to be fighting the need to throw up.

“That’s right.”

“She said if I took it all down and told everyone that I lied about everything and apologized, she wouldn’t tell you about what I did. She said I had an hour to do it. I did it. I did what she said to do. It’s off there and I told everyone I lied and I apologized. I did it in less than an hour. Why did she send you?” Clay rattled off rapid fire.

Race shot his son a look that said to check it out. Derrick, not having the app on his phone, had to go ask one of the guys to look it up while he continued questioning Clay. “Liza told you to do that?” Race was confused. What could his daughter say or do that would put the fear of God in Clay?

“No. Not Liza. It was some woman.”

“Who was this woman?”

Derrick came back and placed his hand on Race’s shoulder, then nodded, Clay was telling the truth. Good news.

“I don’t know. She told me not to say or she’d find me again. I didn’t even tell my dad what happened. He thinks someone vandalized my car while I was playing basketball with the guys. He thinks I got wracked up while we were playing.”

“You didn’t get wracked up playing ball?”

“No. I thought that woman was going to rip my balls off. She squeezed them really hard.” He dropped his head back on the couch and mumbled, “I’ll probably never be able to have kids now.”

Race fought hard not to laugh in his face. He doubted some woman maimed him for life. “Can you tell me anything about this woman? How tall was she? What color hair did she have? Any distinguishing features?”

“I don’t know. She might have been smaller than me, but she sure knew what the hell she was doing. She said that what happened never happened and to keep my mouth shut.”

“Tell me,” Race commanded. His tone brooked no argument. It said either do what I say or I’ll make you. “Give me a description.”

Clay’s mouth pinched, still reluctant to say anything.

“Clay. Tell me.”

“She was maybe five feet seven inches. Her hair was under a black cap. She wore all black, even her boots. She had these eyes that were almost gold. All I know was she was a total badass and she scared the shit out of me. And I don’t want her to have any reason to come looking for me again. God, she’ll probably rip my dick off.” Clay dropped his head back on the couch again and rubbed the top of his head.

“What do you mean your car was vandalized? Did the woman do it or someone else?” Derrick asked.

“It was her. She keyed both sides of my car and slashed three of my four tires.”

The more Race heard about this mystery woman, the more he was intrigued. Who would have made Clay pay for what he did to Liza? Her mom wouldn’t. He couldn’t picture Bellamy doing it even if the woman did have “gold” eyes. He supposed it could have been one of Liza’s friends although technically they wouldn’t be considered a woman. Maybe one of their mothers? A sister? None of it made sense. The sound of Clay’s dad returning signaled the end of their conversation. He’d gotten all the information he was going to get out of the kid. Time to go.

“I won’t say anything about this mystery woman, but if you ever say anything like that about Liza again, Iwillrip your dick off. Get me?” Race kept eye contact with Clay as he stood to leave.
