“I get you.”

Monday morning came early. Too early. Race was tired from spying on Bellamy last night. He kept trying to picture her as some badass chick defending his daughter’s virtue by ripping a guy’s balls off. It just didn’t click.

The local news this morning was predicting a major snow storm to move through Redemption by the end of the week. That meant he needed to make sure the clubhouse was set up and ready to go for any of the club members and their families who might need a place to stay if they lost power and didn’t have a generator.

He was sitting at the head of the table in their meeting room waiting for the others to arrive so he could divvy up the To Do List. After their visit last night to the Walker home, he’d told Derrick that this was it for now. He wanted him to keep an eye out for Liza and ifanyonegave her any shit, he was to let him know.

“Hey, Pres. You never told us how things went down inside the Walker house last night.” Jed and Tuck came in and took a seat, quickly followed by the rest of the brothers until everyone was there.

No. He hadn’t. He’d needed time to mull over what Clay had told him about the woman who’d avenged Liza. When he got to the curb he’d waved Derrick off and told the brothers things were resolved for now and that they’d talk in the morning.

He’d thought about it all night and still couldn’t believe Bellamy could be capable of something like that. But who else did he know that had “gold” eyes? There couldn’t be that many people, right?

“What do you mean? Who are the Walkers and what were you doing there?” Dagger fired off, as he pulled his chair out and took a seat.

“The Walkers, more specifically their son, Clay, thought it would be a good idea to plaster all over Facebook that he’d had sex with Liza.”

“Are you shitting me?” Dagger choked. Every man at the table was instantly pissed off on his and Liza’s behalf. And that’s what brotherhood was all about. They’d have his and his daughter’s back no matter the reason.

“No, I’m not shitting you. Eve called me yesterday to tell me about it. Liza didn’t want to tell me about it because she was afraid I’d kill the kid.”

“Well, that’s understandable.” Dagger nodded his head. “You might have.”

Race smiled and rolled his eyes. “I would not kill a minor. I’d just make his life and the lives of his parents living hell.”

He got a lot of nods of approval and acknowledgments that by not killing the kid, he’d done the right thing.

“Anyway. After Eve filled me in, Jed, Tuck, Darren and Chris followed me to the Walker house. Then Derrick showed up after he heard his mom talking to me over the phone. Apparently, Eve is correct, my boy has my temper and protective streak in regards to his sisters.”

“We’ve all known that for a while.” Maverick grinned.

“What happened? You make it inside?” Tulsa asked.

“Yeah. Derrick and I went inside and the others waited by the bikes. Didn’t want to scare them so much they wouldn’t let us in.” Race scratched at his chin. “Come to find out, some woman beat us to the punch. She tracked his ass down, keyed his car, slashed his tires and damn near ripped his balls off. She told him he had one hour to remove the shit from Facebook, tell everyone it was a lie and apologize for doing that to Liza or she was telling me.”

“Did he do it?” Jackson asked.

“Yeah. He did.” Race still couldn’t believe it.

“Who was the woman?” Tuck asked.

“Don’t know. He really didn’t have a description of her other than she was dressed head to toe in black and was as he put it, a badass. She told him never to tell anyone about what happened or she’d find him again. He’s afraid she’ll rip his dick off.” The guys joined Race in a good laugh.

“She said if he didn’t take care of it in one hour, she’d tellyouwhat was going on?” Trick leaned forward, his arms resting on the slick surface.

Race nodded. “Yeah. That’s what he said.”

“Huh. That’s weird.” Darren spoke up, in one of his rare speaking moods. “That would imply that the woman knew you.”

That’s what Race had figured out, too. Which brought him back to Bellamy. She was the only one he knew personally with that particular eye color. He should give his brothers that bit of information, but he wanted to check things out for himself first.

“Do you think it could have been Eve?” Dagger wondered.

“No. She wouldn’t have fucked with him like that. That’s what she’d use me for. She also warned me not to do anything that would make things worse for Liza.”

A few ideas for names of women were thrown out there making Race more and more convinced that Bellamy was Liza’s avenging angel. He wasn’t surprised when her name wasn’t thrown out there. Seriously, who would imagine a refined businesswoman like her could do something like that?
