“I haven’t been here that long,” Carmen said. “And not in often enough to talk to people and get the scoop.”

Carmen had been spending a lot of time with Royce and Colt out in meetings while she was learning the ropes in the office too.

Both of the men would be giving Carmen work rather than it coming to Elise. Things were working out better than she thought it would.

“Again, not that big of a deal. I’m surprised you haven’t met Gabe yet.”

“No,” Carmen said. “I would have remembered that. Have you been dating long? It’s kind of funny if you ask me. It’s like the merging of dynasties for a powerhouse.”

“Huh?” she asked.

“The two family businesses and you are dating. I’m going to assume it’s been a long time. I have heard you’ve worked with them for years.”

“No,” she said. “Not long. A little over three months.”

“Oh,” Carmen said. “Well, I won’t bug you.”

She didn’t know what that comment was about but would push it from her mind.

She got up and went to her father’s office and opened the door.

“Am I interrupting?”

“No,” Royce said. “We are just finishing up. I’ve got a lunch date myself to get to. Must be the day for it.”

“We should double date sometime,” she said, joking. “I’m going to guess you are getting blueprints from your wife and that is why you’re going to lunch?”

“I am,” Royce said.

“Dad, can we bring you anything back?”

“No,” her father said. “I’m good with my sandwich.”

“Then it looks as if I’m ready now,” she said to Gabe.

The two of them left and found a pub close by. “What’s going on?”

“Nothing,” she said. “Why?”

“You’re lost in space.”

She didn’t realize she was. “Just something Carmen said to me now.”

“What’s that?”

“She thinks you’re yummy.”

He started to cough on the soda he was drinking. “She said that to you?”

“She didn’t know we were dating. She asked if you were available and then was mortified after.”

“That’s kind of funny. In a way. Were you jealous?”

“You can get that smirk right off your face.”

Even if she did find it adorable.

“You didn’t answer me.”
