His mother nodded and turned back to his father. He just sat there and listened to work conversations and then Walker and Stella talked about their daughter that would be born in a few months.

Another Fierce setup. Man, those couples sure did know what they were doing. There were a lot of them in this room now that he looked.

Drake and Kara Fierce. Ryder and Marissa Fierce. Jade and Brock James. Megan Harrington and Jonah Davenport. Raina and Cody McMillian. All employees and or family of Grant and Garrett Fierce. All matched up.

There were more that the Fierces could claim credit for, but they wouldn’t have been invited to this wedding.

He just hoped they were right with him and Elise.

Hell, he wasn’t going to leave it up to chance though and needed to make this work on his own.

The way he’d told them all before. Let him handle it.

He was. His way.

It was just slower than he wanted.

Dinner was starting to get cleared away. He saw Elise stand up and walk out of the hall. He decided to go stretch his legs too.

He got up and heard his father laugh but ignored him.

When he got to the hallway, he looked around and tried to see where she could have gone, then realized it might have been the bathroom so he made his way toward there too.

He felt a bit like a perv just standing around and was going to leave, when the door opened and Elise came out.

“Hey,” she said quickly, her head moving everywhere.

“Hi,” he said.

She grabbed his hand and continued down the hall and around the corner. They were out of sight and it looked like maintenance might be the only ones that came down this far.

“I was wondering if you were going to try to seek me out.”

“You look amazing,” he said slowly, his eyes traveling the length of her body.

Her hands lifted and trailed down the front of his shirt. “Seriously. Look who is talking. Damn. I wish we weren’t here right now.”

“I wonder if that door is locked,” he said, turning his head.

He could see she debated for a few minutes. “Too risky. I’m not that bold.”

“You’re bold enough,” he said, “but I get it.”

He wouldn’t have minded pulling her in there just for a kiss. Nothing more. Though that might be a nice little fantasy in his head for another time.

“I know we didn’t make plans after this,” she said.

“You didn’t know what was going on,” he said. “I get it.”

“My car is at Royce’s. I need to get it.”

“I can bring you,” he said.

“People will see us leaving together. Or someone at his house. I’m getting a ride with my father. Just not sure when.”

“Got it,” he said.

“I know,” she said, sighing. “You’re not happy.”
