“Fuck. Get the prospects to pick him up. I want him back here in the basement when I get back,” I tell him. He nods his head as Tarek and a few others follow me outside and climb on our bikes.

I’m racing through the streets toward the address Ridge gave me. It’s a fifteen-minute drive, and my stomach sinks the longer we ride.

We pull into the driveway, and I glance around, not seeing a car. This place is on the bad side of town and in a run-downneighborhood. It makes sense he would have been close by, the motherfucker.

We pull our guns out and walk up to the front door, pushing it open. I step inside and glance around. I don’t see anything other than a cot and a blanket in the living room. We break up and move through the house when I hear Tarek scream for me. I rush from one side of the house to the other when I step into the room. My heart drops. My stomach recoils.

There’s a puddle of blood under her feet as she hangs there. I rush over, shoving my gun into the back of my jeans before lifting her in my arms.

“Get some cutters,” I roar as I lift her as much as I can. There’s a chain around her neck and chains holding her wrist to the ceiling. She’s bleeding badly, and I don’t even know at this point if she’s alive. She hasn’t moved.

“Lyra?” I say her name even as it gets caught in my throat. There’s no answer. My stomach cramps at the thought of holding her dead body in my arms. She can’t leave me, not yet. I just got her. I won’t let her go.

Tarek rushes in with some cutters he must have found in the garage and cuts her free from the chains. Her limp body falls into my arms, and I cradle her against my chest.

“Call an ambulance,” I tell him as I sit on the floor in a puddle of her blood, holding her as tightly as I can.

“You can’t do this, Mama. You can’t leave us now. The boys need you. I need you,” I tell her. Tarek makes the call as a few of the other guys find something to press against her wounds, but there are so many I don’t know how she could survive this. Nevertheless, I hold the rags to her stomach, trying to stop the bleeding, yet blood seeps through them, too.

“Fuck, Knight,” Tarek says as he kneels next to me to check for a pulse. “She’s still alive. I don’t know how.”

“Fuck you, Tarek! Fuck you!” I don’t listen to a word he has to say. I keep holding her in my arms until the paramedics arrive. Then I stand here like a goddamn lost fool watching as they take her away. The cops are swarming us, asking questions and taking statements. Lucky for us, we know them, and I can get away from them.

“I don’t have time for this shit, Detective,” I tell him once more when he doesn’t stop the line of questioning. My cell rings, and I pull it out with blood-stained hands.

“Yeah?”

“We got him,” Ridge says. I hang up quickly and start toward my bike when the asshole stops me once more. He grabs my arm and pulls me back until I’m facing him again.

“Am I cleaning this mess up for you, too, Knight?”

“Make it go away. You’ll get your money,” I tell him. The Detective nods his head before turning and walking away. I’m thankful as fuck he’s in our pocket now I know they have Dave.

I climb on my bike and rev the engine before taking off. I want to be at the hospital with Lyra. I want to make sure that she’s okay, but I can’t do that right now. I need to handle this shit. I need to make that motherfucker pay for what he’s done to her.

I ride through the traffic as quickly as I can, splitting the lanes and cruising down the middle. I haul ass back to the clubhouse, and when I arrive, I climb off my bike and nearly run to the basement doors. I’m thankful as fuck the boys weren’t out here to witness this.

I’m down the stairs and in the room, where I see him tied to a chair.

“I want chains,” I tell Ridge. Dave lifts his head and looks at me, a sadistic look in his eyes. He might think he’s the bad guy here, but I’m worse.

“She’s dead,” he declares as I shrug my shoulders.

“Might be. And now you’ll be dead too,” I inform him. I wait for Ridge to bring in the chains, and then I rig them up to the ceiling. Tarek and Ridge move to untie him and then hoist his ass up. I wrap the chain around his neck and then do his arms just like he did to her.

“This how you did it to her?” I ask him, pulling my knife free from its sheath. “This what you did?” He tugs at the chains as his eyes widen, and he realizes I wasn’t joking. I’m going to hurt him the way he did her. I’m going to take my time and draw this out just like I promised him.

“You son of a bitch! You might have gotten me, but not before I got her!” he roars. I pull my hand back, shove the blade into his side, and watch as the blood rushes out, and he screams.

“Ridge, call the hospital. I need an update.” He nods his head as I jam the knife into him once more. Each time Dave screams louder, I can hear Lyra screaming in my head. He fucked up. He fucking took something I wanted, something I needed. Something those boys needed. He took that away, and I don’t know if she’s coming back.

I walk around him, watching the blood trickle out of him as he tugs at the chains a little more.

“You’re not walkin’ out of here,” I tell him as I step back in front of him. I shift the knife to the other hand and pull my fist back, slamming it into his face.

“Fuck you!”

“Is that what she said, too? Did she tell you to fuck off? I know my girl, she did, didn’t she?”
