Casper snorted. “Sure you did.”

“And it was nice,” I finished, glaring at my friend. “He didn’t dance. I didn’t get on my knees. But we… cuddled.”

Reed grinned so big it was comical.

Slater blinked repeatedly.

Casper seemed confused. “You cuddled?”

“Yeah, we had our shirts off and I held him. Don’t get me wrong, had the opportunity presented itself, I would have lovedto do more, but it didn’t. I enjoyed being with him like that. It was intimate.”

“More so than sex,” Reed added.

“Right.”

“Two crushes.”

“What am I going to do?” I lay back on the couch with my arm thrown over my eyes and groaned dramatically. No one called me subtle.

“Did you talk to either of them about how you feel? You were awfully close to Tristan the other night.”

“I might have said some shit,” I mumbled.

“Like?” Casper prompted.

“I told Tristan I was going to woo him and asked if he’d been with two men before.”

“A smooth, slow approach,” he mocked.

I lifted my arm and sat up to narrow my eyes at Casper. “I don’t need the obvious pointed out by you too.”

“Just want to make sure you know your mistake.”

“Wait,” Reed cut in. “Why was it a mistake? Dash can’t be honest with someone he has feelings for?”

Casper turned to fully face his lover. “I didn’t say that, but Tristan seems skittish. Dash wouldn’t want to frighten him away. Tristan reminds me of Donny when he was little. Cade had to hand feed him to gain his trust.”

“Tristan is a person. Donny is a deer. The two aren’t anything alike.”

“Let’s take away the animal-human part of this and focus on the behavior.”

“Tris isn’t skittish,” I said. “There was hope in his eyes. Those big brown puppy dog eyes.” How could someone be so cute and sweet and fuckable at the same time? I wanted to cuddle him and slip my cock into his ass. If he bottomed, that was. I’d be happy to have it the other way around.

“How did you leave things the other night after dinner?” Slater asked.

I thought back to dinner after we finished eating. Tristan and I talked about nothing consequential. He asked what life was like on the road and if I liked what I did. We spoke about his job and how he wanted to rent an apartment. Very normal stuff. I wanted to take him for a ride on my bike but didn’t think he would have jumped on the back. Plus, I didn’t have a helmet on me. I might not wear one, but any time I had a passenger, they had at least a skullcap on.

We walked together out into the night, our hands brushing. I linked my pinky with his, not wanting to let go but knowing I should. Tristan had recently gotten out of a shitty relationship. He might not have been ready to jump into another one. Of course, I had no clue since I didn’t ask him. Nor did I get his phone number.

I was officially a moron.

I got a hug though. That counted for a lot. The feel of him in my arms, the way his warm breath brushed along my neck. I wanted to hold him there forever.

We parted ways with soft smiles and another brief touch of our hands. It was sweet, like him.

“By the look on your face, I’d say you left on good terms,” Reed stated.

“It was nice. Nothing sexual but…”
