“You said you would burn the world for me once. I would do the same. Every single person out there can sacrifice themselves for you or die by my hand if you do not survive this. Which fate do you think would be preferable to them?”

Without hesitation, I answer, “Sacrifice, definitely. You’d make it last much longer and hurt a thousand times more.”

“Damn right I would, Princess. So stop talking nonsense and go back to sleep.”

He kisses my nose, then tucks me into his arms. Part of me wonders as I drift off if maybe I’m still dreaming because this version of Alexi is so rare. But as I feel his body breathing beneath my chest, feel his heart beating in sync with mine, I know it isn’t a dream. It’s just my dark knight, threatening the world to save me.

Chapter 26

They say that on your wedding day, you tend to get cold feet or have a moment where you wonder if this is really what you want. I can say for a fact that won’t be any of us. But I am nervous. Not just about seeing my girl walk down the aisle, but because I plan to marry the other love of my life today too.

“Hey, babe,” I say to Lev before he can walk into the bathroom of the suite we are getting ready in.

“Yeah?” His green eyes meet mine and butterflies erupt in my stomach. He’s perfect in so many ways, but those eyes cut me to the core.

“I…um, I’ve got a present for you.”

He watches as I walk to the closet and pull out a large white box. Handing it to him, my hands start to sweat. In the haste of everything happening, I didn’t have time to overthink this, I just did it. And I really hope he likes it.

Lev takes the box and sets it on the bathroom counter while eyeing me.

“You didn’t have to get me anything.”

“Just open it.”

He smirks and lifts the lid, revealing a men’s corset with red satin fabric and black stitching. He picks it up with pinched brows.

“I thought these were for women?”

I step up behind him and hold it to his frame. “This one was made just for you. It’s a men’s corset.”

The shoulder straps are lined with a black leather-like material to make the fit comfortable.

“Will you try it on for me?”

He bites his lip but nods. I watch as he undresses from his sweats and pulls on the black pants and black shirt combo we selected for all of us. I just wanted him to have a piece that makes him stand out. Because it’s his day too.

I help him get the corset over his head then get to tying up the strings, forcing his back to straighten. He stands tall and proud as I tie it at the bottom. I don’t think he’s ever looked so fucking mouth watering.

“Fuck me sideways,” I whisper into his ear. His eyes meet mine in the mirror.

“I think I love it.” His grin is wide as he checks himself out in the mirror, making me feel so damn proud to be his. My man isdelicious.

I grab his hips and spin him around before pinning him to the counter in a brutal kiss. He laughs into my mouth but cups my face before pulling me closer.

“You know it’s bad luck to kiss before the wedding.” His fake scolding is adorable.

“Well, if the day is damned anyway.” I kiss him again, showing him how much he means to me. “Oh wait,” I say, pulling back and running into the room.

Lev walks out to meet me with a broad smile on his face.

“So I know today is about Evie, and that’s something we both wanted, but it’s about us too. All of us.”

I take out the box from my bag and hold it out as I get to one knee. “Will you officially marry me, Lev?”

I open the lid and his eyes flick between me and the ring. “The green line is for your Lucky Charm, the black is from my Little Shadow, but the diamond in the middle is just from me to you.”

“Damien, I… shit…I love it.”
