Teyval said softly, “You are sure they will call in the Elite?”

“Oh, yeah. One of them has a real grudge.” She nodded grimly. “He’s going to want to be there, and I want to let him.”

Denith asked softly, “What are you going to take?”

“Twenty pounds of Elite energy. I think I am due.” She smiled. “Now, breakfast? I have to talk to Nisha and get her agreement and get her to give me a ride. I have to focus on getting some food into me and then letting my energy dissipate so I look all hollow and ethereal.”

Denith frowned. “I will come with you.”

“You will not.” She stared at him. “You barely have yourself together.”

Byron murmured, “I will wait outside, and you will have Nisha call me if you take a turn.”

She shrugged. “Of course, she will.” Nisha was always kept in another room, so it wasn’t really a lie. She blushed anyway.

Byron said, “You are lying?”

“No, but it isn’t the exact truth. Nisha isn’t allowed in the room when the Elite are there.”

“Ah. Well, let go of Denith, eat some food, and we will work out a strategy.”

Myrtle released Denith, and they had breakfast on the bed while Teyval pulled her back against him, and low growls came from his throat. Oddly enough, it didn’t bother her.

Denith had washed her clothes while he prepped breakfast. She chatted with Nisha and explained what she needed.

Nisha was appalled but agreed to the plan as long as one of Myrtle’s pack was there. Byron smiled. “I will act as bodyguard.”

She shrugged. “Okay. They won’t let you into the room.”

“They won’t even see me.” He smiled. “Promise.”

“You are very chatty for a mattress.” She nibbled at a corner of toast.

Byron nodded. “I haven’t heard that before, but you would be in a position to know, or at least, you would be if we could be back in bed.”

She shuddered. “I... don’t think I can do that again until I put on some weight.”

Denith nodded. “But the plan you have is the fastest way you can do it because you want to be with us.”

She nodded. “I am still leaking energy, so I am going to use the pocket that is controlling the transfer and put myself in there until the Elite get close enough. Then, I am going to pull hard, and you might want to be leaning against something, Denith. You are going to feel it.”

Teyval murmured, “And I won’t?”

“Not the same. You... I feel you trickling into me like a slow tap. You and Byron both. With Denith, it is a door, and it’s wide fucking open.” She smiled. “You will get the equivalent of a hickey, and I will gut him. Oh, the other guy will be in for a surprise when I start pulling back.” She smiled.

Teyval kissed her shoulder. “More bloodthirsty than I thought. I am so proud.”

Denith frowned. “Why have you held back if you can pull energy back?”

Myrtle gave him a calm look. “I didn’t know who was on the other side of that doorway. Now I know, so I can take action knowing that I won’t hurt you if I am careful.”

Byron nodded. “And she knows we can keep you alive until she can strike a balance again.”

Myrtle smiled. “That, too.”

Denith blinked. “So, you waited until you met me?”

“If I was hurting and the usual arrangement is to mate in a trio, one of my mates had to be hurting, too. I didn’t know that you came with accessories.”
