Myrtle nodded and said, “Sorry for being short. If I am tall, my hands pass through things. Molecular density is my friend.”

Keres made a concerned face. “Come this way. Your third looks pretty crappy, but we have two donors who are willing to take you on.”

“I thought there were only two at a time?”

“Your third will die without a link.” Keres was calm when she said it. They walked through a surprisingly warm building with statues tucked into every niche.

“And I only have about ten days left before I scatter to the wind.”

“Well, they are all waiting for you.”

“Right, well, at this point, I have nothing to lose. Literally. I have settled my affairs and am ready for whatever comes.”

Keres smirked. “Keep that phrasing in mind.”

They walked into a living room where two men sat on a couch, a third sat in a chair, and Achilles and Dante stood up, looking worried.

Keres said softly, “She’s here.”

Five pairs of eyes were suddenly looking at her, and Myrtle stepped forward. She looked at the man in the chair. “You don’t look so good.”

He smiled with a wince. “You are tiny.”

She smiled, resumed her full height, and then swung her arm through the coffee table. “The bigger I am, the less solid I am. That started earlier in the week.”

He looked at her and said, “Does it hurt?”

“The pain is still there, but now, I feel weak. That came with the dissolving density.”

“I am still in pain.” The dark skin and red eyes looked at her.

“Well, you are stronger than me to start with. I am guessing you would die slower.”

A different voice said, “We are here, so you don’t have to die. We were wondering why we hadn’t been drawn to any other females. Now we know.”

She turned and looked at them. They had gotten to their feet and smiled at her. The darker of the two stepped toward her. “Lady, may we be of service?”

“Uh, I am not sure what that entails.” She turned to Keres. “Also, did you tell these guys that I write spicy romance? Anything they say or do may show up in a book.”

The man she had not yet spoken to laughed. “We can take a critique and are willing to ask for preferences.”

“Uh, that’s great. I have always been more theoretical than practical. Is that a problem?”

He cocked his head, his dark skin highlighted with a pewter cast. “If you are saying what I think you are saying, it’s no problem. No one is in a hurry.”

She turned to the male, who was fading to beige. “He’s in a hurry. I am in a hurry.”

Myrtle held up her hand and extended it to him. He held out his hand, and she moved her palm. It passed right through him. He was shocked.

“I can’t touch him. I would drain him in a heartbeat.” She sighed. “So, I don’t know how this is going to work.”

The other dark Elite in a business suit quietly said, “Reduce yourself until you are solid and then come and sit with me. I will explain the plan that we have come up with.”

She huffed and shrank down to about five-feet tall and then walked over to the calm mountain of an elf.

She sat next to him, which put her between the two males on the couch. It was extremely warm, and they smelled good, so she breathed deeply and relaxed a little.

The man who had asked her to sit reached for her hand, and she waited for the sparks. Nothing happened. No shield or energy between them.
