Also, Lexi doesn’t stop to amuse me. How in the world she transformed from a very much hung-over mess to this sophisticated, hot-as-hell businesswoman in fifteen minutes is beyond me. Her short, blonde hair is pulled in a slick ponytail in the back, showing cute little ears with emerald-green studs inthem to match her eyes. She is wearing a perfectly fitted, black designer suit. And those pants hug her ass as good as my hands will once I get to put them on her, but my gaze falls down to the floor where her tiny feet are peeking from the hem in siren red heels.

Damn it, does she know my weakness or what?

I swear I’ll get her on my desk wearing just those, even if it will be the last thing I do.

Lexi is murmuring something under her breath as she locks up—probably cussing me out—and walks right past me as if I’m invisible.

Well, this is new.

I am anything but invisible to the ladies.

Come to think of it, I had more firsts with this woman in the past twenty-four hours than I did with others in the last five years.

“Where do you think you’re going?” I ask her, and she stops dead in her tracks. Her coffee nearly spills all over her, and I hide a chuckle.

I love giving her a whiplash.

Lexi turns slowly and faces me. “Iam going to work. The question is, what are you doing here, Mr. Locke?”

That fucking attitude. “Adjust that tone, Kitten. No one gets to talk to me like that.”

“Interesting. And what about me gave it away that I give a damn?”

“I’m your boss. You will speak to me accordingly,” I say with a slight threat laced through my tone.

“Then why don’t you put both of us out of misery and transfer me to some other department where I can do my job for the next month and quit?”

Shit, I did not think this through very well, have I?

I pull away from the car and reach her in two long steps placing myself within an inch of her face, and her vanilla scent tickles my nose.

I never liked vanilla until yesterday. Vanilla is all I want now. It’s all I crave, and I always get what I want. And because I’m a masochist like that and decide that a hard-on at seven AM is a brilliant freaking idea, I lean in and whisper into her ear, “No.”

“No?” Lexi asks, looking straight into my eyes without as much as an eye twitch. And for the first time in my life, I feel like I am not in control.

This girl is different, and this game is dangerous.

I’m not sure I will come out as a winner…

And that’s a first. AGAIN. But I love me a challenge.

“No, Kitten. You will work as my personal assistant, and let me tell you, it will be a month of straight-up hell for you. Welcome aboard.” I step back, open the back door to my Range Rover, and motion for her to hop in.

Lexi narrows her eyes at me, turns around, and walks away without a single word. Trying to hide my annoyance, I climb inside alone and drive to the office in complete silence.

I wasn’t lying when I said this month would be pure hell for her. But what I didn’t account for is what she will do to me this month.

Maybe if I could see the future, I would never look up that day she passed by.

Or maybe I would do it ten times over.

LEXI

Of course, he was waiting outside.

How could I expect anything less? Landon Locke is a psycho after my sanity. And I’m sorry, but can we take a moment to talk about the rule? How did I not know of it when I was signing my life away to that demon?
