“That’s not what I need to hear.”

“No?” Lan raises an eyebrow at him.

“Well, yes, but no. Levidis doesn’t have the first clue about who Kira is, and I can’t have him playing games with my sister.”

“Like the one you practically made her participate in when you suggested a fake relationship scheme?”

“That was all you, idiot, and I never thought it would get this far.”

“A, I am sitting right here, so feel free to talk to me. B, I know my Kira better than you think. I know her soul.”

Julius’s head snaps to mine, those dark eyes leveling me with a penetrating stare. I don’t know what he is searching for, but apparently, he finds it because I see his posture relax.

“Damn it. She really told you. There’s no going back now.”

“I feel like I’m missing a whole lot,” Landon chips in from the side, but I pay him no attention.

“No, there’s no going back. There never was.”

“This was never pretend for you, was it?”

“No. Never,” I tell him, and he lets out a loaded breath.

“You love her?”

“Yes.”

“You know she might not be able to give you everything you want?” I’m pretty sure he’s referring to having more kids since Kira told me she can’t have any. Or that her chances are slim to none. But what he doesn’t understand is that she is giving me all I want.

“I just want her. My daughter wants her. That’s all we need.”

“Woah, you have a daughter?” Landon asks. “How come no one tells me shit?”

“Because you are a worse gossiper than all of the New York put together.”

“Am not,” Landon answers with an offense.

“Yeah, right, Katerina figured out I bought that brownstone next to yours all by herself.” Julius glares at Lan.

“Sure did.”

“Just shut up, I’ll deal with you later.” He turns back to me. “If you hurt my sister, I will take out all that anger I have stored from her past relationship out on you, are we clear?” He quirks an eyebrow at me and, based on how fucking bad her ex, Kevin, destroyed her, I know I will be twenty feet under the ground if not completely erased from this planet.

“Good thing I’m not planning on ever doing that. Besides my daughter, she is the most important person in my life. I love her, and I won’t ever let her go.”

“Good.” Jules nods and stands up, but before I can think better of it, I stop him.

“Julius?” I lower my voice.

“Yeah?”

“Do I have your blessing?”

“My blessing? To be with her?” he furrows his brows. “That’s something you have to ask her. I am here to protect her, not stand in her way.”

“No, not to be with her. To marry her.” Both Landon and Julius freeze as my words ring loudly around the room. “I figured I should ask you since you’re her family. And she values your opinion.”

I watch as the tough biker in front of me melts away, and the real brother who loves his foster sister more than anything appears. Julius swallows hard, then comes up to me and hauls me into a hug, which I return right away.
