“B—” I go back to the conversation we had before, ignoring his comment. “You are well aware that if I’m not here, then I am at one of my other establishments. But still, I don’t like how much work you do.”
“And I love this whole new caring side of you, but it is what it is.”
“We’ll see about that,” I say as an idea forms in my head, and I am surprised I haven’t thought of that before. I simply need to hire a whole new crew who will do all of the annoying prep work before the main crew shows up for the vital part and the dinner itself. And then another crew for clean-up.
“Dude, whatever you did, I love you,” I hear Erik whisper to Vassar while I am lost in my own thoughts. “You made her human.”
“No, I only fell in love with her.” Vas sends me a wink that ignites my insides, and I am just about done watching those sexy arms working the food and ready to haul him into my office so he can workmewhen the kitchen doors swing open wide, and two demons of New York saunter inside like they own the fucking place.
“Jules, Landon, aka the devil, what the hell are you doing here?” I ask them as they stroll up to us, but they pay zero attention to me.
“Levidis, to the office. Now,” my brother barks. Landon shrugs behind him, and they walk straight down. Leaving the rest of the kitchen and me gaping at them with propped-open jaws.
“What the fuck?” I call out, shaking myself out of this stupor and rushing after them. But as soon as I reach my door, Landon blocks me from entering.
“Shoo, witch, as far as I’m aware, you are not a Levidis yet, and I will have a conversation with you later about ignoring my calls for a week since blowing that interview I set up for you two.”
“Baby, I got this; go back into the kitchen.” Vassar comes up from the back, kissing the top of my head, and steps around me to get inside past Landon, who I am currently glaring at.
“Julius,” I shout, hoping my brother could help me out, but all I get in response is, “You heard him, Kira. Leave us to deal with this.”
“Deal with what?” I ask just as the devil shuts a door in my face with a smug smirk on his stupidly handsome face. “Assholes.” I punch the door with my fist.
And then I do what any respectable, multi-millionaire woman would do.
I press my ear to the closed door and eavesdrop.
Chapter forty-five

“Sit,” Julius commands me, and if he thinks this whole dark biker with demon eyes thing he has going will intimidate me, he can think again.
I’ve been in love with dark and twisted fiery witch for a while. The one who is most likely listening to everything behind that door.
So, there is literally nothing he can do that will scare me. I’m immune.
“Let’s not waste each other’s time. So, talk,” I answer and catch a little grin ghosting Landon’s lip.
Julius narrows his eyes at me but gets straight to the point. “What are your intentions with my sister?”
Damn it, I can’t even be mad at this whole asshole routine because he is doing this out of caring for Kira. From what I saw before and what she told me last night, I already know they don’t do warm and fuzzies but have their own ways of showing love to each other, and clearly, this is him doing just that, so I clear my throat and drop down to the chair.
The same chair I fucked her in for the very first time, and I might feel a little weird about talking to her brother while we are here.
“There are no intentions. She is mine.”
“Define mine.”
“Mine means mine, Julius. I am sure you understand how that works.”
“The cat Katerina brought home the other day is also mine, so, excuse me if I need you to be a bit more specific,” he growls, and this time Landon lets out a chuckle.
“Oh, man, this is so much better when I am on this side of the interrogation.” He laces his hands behind his head and sits back.
“Not fucking helping, Lan.” Jules turns to him.
“I think you got this. Loved the cat analogy.” He cracks up again and then when Julius sends him a deadly glare, he sighs and looks at me. “Dude, just tell him that you love his sister so we can all be done here.”
