"I've got you," he murmurs, his breath a warm puff against my cold ears. "Jesus, Molly. You scared the crap out of me."

My throat tightens as tears well up in my eyes, blurring my vision. I look up at Chase, his face a mixture of relief and concern, and I choke out, "I'm sorry, Chase. I'm so, so sorry."

Before I can say anything more, Chase bends down and scoops me into his arms. His body warmth seeps through my clothes. As he carries me away from the edge, his truck parked a short distance away becomes visible.

"Molly, what on earth were you doing driving on the side of the mountain in this weather?" Chase's voice rumbles in his chest, causing me to shiver against him.

I sniff, wiping away a stray tear with the back of my hand. "I... I came to see you, Chase," I confess, my voice barely above a whisper.

Chase halts in his steps, his breath hitching slightly. "You were driving up the mountain to see me?"

"Yes," I admit, the word barely audible. Then, I force myself to meet his gaze. "I realize now that I made a mistake by leaving after our last session."

A frown creases his forehead. "Why didn't you call me?"

I wince, my voice trembling. "I was embarrassed. I thought you would be mad at me after everything that happened. I wanted to talk to you in person."

Chase kisses my hair. "I could never be mad at you, baby."

His words hang in the air between us as he resumes walking, carrying me towards his truck. Once we get there, he places me carefully inside.

I can't help but let out a sigh of relief. The crisp, cold air outside is replaced by the comforting scent of Chase -- a mixture of pine, musk, and something uniquely him that I've grown to love. I sink into the plush leather, and the familiar humming of the truck's heater fills the silence, its gentle rhythm soothing my frazzled nerves.

Chase climbs into the driver's seat and puts his hand on my thigh. I love the way it feels. Despite the chaos of tonight, I somehow feel safer than I ever have before.

I look over at him and sniff. “Will you take me home now?”

He looks over at me and gives a soft smile. “Yeah, baby. I’ll take you home.”

Chapter Six

CHASE

The headlights flick offas I pull into the driveway, casting the night in darkness.

"I thought you were taking me home," Molly says with an adorably confused expression on her face.

"You are home, baby," I reply. Then I lean in and capture her lips with mine.

It's a bold move, but I can't help myself anymore.

She tastes like freshly picked strawberries. Sweet and addictively delicious. It's a taste that I never want to let go of. And if I get my way, I’ll never have to.

“Okay, seriously, Chase,” Molly giggles as I walk around to her side of the car. “What are you doing?”

"Taking you to our bed," I tell her, opening her door. Her gorgeous green eyes widen further, and she opens her mouth to ask more questions. But I interrupt her.

“Like I said before. You’re mine now, baby. This is your home."

Her confusion doesn't fade, but she doesn't resist when I scoop her into my arms. I hold her close as I carry her toward the cabin The weight of her body feels right, like she belongs in my arms.

Lola’s deep bark greets us as soon as we get inside. Her tail thumps against the ground as she jumps up on her hind legs to give Molly’s hand a friendly lick.

“She missed you,” I tell Molly as she scratches Lola behind the ears. “We both did.”

“Aw, I’ve missed you too, Lola,” Molly coos. Then she blushes and looks up at me. “You and your Daddy.”

My chest swells in triumph at her words, and a cheesy grin spreads across my face.
