“Yes,” she smiled, shaking her head. “I was just thinking I wished I would have had a relationship like that with my father or mother. You’re all so lucky that you’ve got such a great family connection.”

“We are lucky,” said Gaspar, but we also work very hard at it. “It’s not something that comes easy. You treat your family, your children, your friends the way you want to be treated. With respect and honor. You’ll get that in return.”

“I think I have some things to learn about being with a true family,” she smiled.

“You’ll have plenty of time to learn everything you need,” said Ajei. “We’re all here for you, Sage. You don’t have to worry about being alone ever again. In fact, you’re going to have more people around you than you could possibly imagine.”

“I think I’m okay with that,” she smiled. Turning to Luke and Cam, she gave a small wave. “Good luck, and if you can, please make sure Mike comes home.”

“He’ll come home. His grandfather is with him,” smiled Luke.

“He’s what!” yelled Lauren.

“Time to go,” said Cam. “Sorry, Lauren, gotta run.”

“Luke Robicheaux, Cameron Dougall, you get back here! Where is Trak? He said he was working at Halo Island. Where is he?” Sage couldn’t help but snicker as the beautiful, violet-eyed Lauren lost her temper.

“Is she really mad?” whispered Sage to Ajei.

“Sort of,” she smirked. “Trak is very good at hiding away, sneaking away, being stealth. He’s just very good at whatever he does.”

“Is he a ghost?” she asked.

“Pfft, no,” laughed Kate. She sobered, then looked at Ajei. “I mean, I don’t think so. He’s not, is he?”

“I don’t know, don’t ask me! I mean, he had four children. Ghosts can’t do that, can they?”

“He’s not a ghost,” said Gaspar. “He’s just exceptionally good at what he does.”

“Are they all good at what they do?” asked Sage with a hint of concern. Gaspar looked at Eric and Hex, who gave them a nod.

“Sage, do you understand Special Forces at all?”

“Not really. I didn’t have anyone in my family that served. I knew a few guys from high school who joined the Army, but I have no idea what they did.”

“Special Forces are different. My brothers and me were all Army Rangers.Rangers are the Army's elite, light infantry shock troops. They are airborne qualified and tough as nails. We can either support higher units, like Army Delta, or conduct raids on the enemy themselves.”

“What is Delta?” Gaspar smirked, nodding at her.

“Army Delta is considered somewhat equal to Navy SEALs. Green Beret’s operate in any environment from desert to jungle.”

“They all sound the same to me,” she whispered.

“In many ways, we are the same. We train in similar ways. We all learn to do water missions, jump from planes, fight in harsh conditions, and we learn some of the same fighting techniques.

“Trak; his sons, Joseph and Nathan; and their sons, JB, Tobias, Nate, and Mike, were all Delta.”

“Oh.”

“Yes, oh. Trak is the most unique warrior I’ve ever known. Even as an Army Ranger, we knew about the legend. The Delta Devil.”

“Why did they call him that?”

“I don’t think that matters right now. Just know that I have never known a man more qualified, deadlier, quieter, and more capable with any weapon or any form of martial arts. The only man who might beat him in the ring would be Rory.”

“So, why doesn’t the government have you train their current teams?” asked Sage.

“That’s a great question,” chuckled Ghost.
