I stare at her mesmerizing face, the way her red hair frames her smile perfectly. “Yeah.”

The moment stretches, elongates. Roisin rotates the ring into the light, casting a shimmering spectacle across the room.

“I don’t really want to take it off.”

My response is simple. “Then don’t.”

“This is crazy.”

“I know,” I agree with a soft chuckle.

“My sister will kill me.”

“I hope not.”

We stare at each other from across the table. Her eyes glow in the candlelight that casts shadows over her delicate features. Yes, it would be incredibly easy to fall in love with her. Am I already there? Maybe.

“Will you marry me, Roisin?”

“Yes.”

Chapter Twenty-One

Arnie

“Arnie?”

“Mmm?”

“I don’t want to go back to the warehouse.”

Her voice is so vulnerable and sweet in the darkness of the car I almost pull over to give her my undivided attention.

Instead, I swallow hard and take the next left.

“Okay.”

“Yeah?”

The plan formulates in my mind as I say it. “There’s a hotel I know that should be secure for at least a night.”

Roisin snorts. “Connor will be so mad.”

“I couldn’t give less of a crap about Connor,” I parrot back the words she said earlier.

“Still, will you message him?”

I nod as I pull up to the hotel. It’s not nearly as exclusive as the restaurant, but there’s a back entrance they usually reserve for celebrities. We enter without difficulty, and after a short conversation with the private receptionist, she hands us the keys to the penthouse and directs us to the elevator.

“I don’t think I’ll ever get used to that,” Roisin mutters as we enter the elevator.

I lean over her to hit the correct button. “Used to what?”

“Just ordering the best thing so confidently,” she clarifies. “I’ve spent my life looking at menu prices first.”

“There has to be some perks to having my ring on your finger, right?” I tease as we begin our ascent.

“That’s not why I said yes.”
