I step toward her, making her retreat into the wall. “But it helped, right?”

Her lips purse. “Perhaps.”

I watch as Roisin’s eyes glance hopefully at my lips, and the monster within me rears its head. “Knowing that I could spoil you rotten?”

She curls a little closer as my arm leans against the wall above her head.

“You think I’m that materialistic?” she purrs back.

“I think you deserve nice things.”

Ping.

The doors open smoothly, and I hesitantly withdraw. Stepping out into the cool corridor helps momentarily soothe the ache growing within me. But it offers little comfort. As I open the door to our room, I’m mindful of how close Roisin is to me every second my back is turned to her.

Seemingly unfazed by my desires, Roisin breezes by me into the room.

I follow slowly in an attempt to regain my composure. By the time I close the door behind us, Roisin has run toward the window, gazing down at the city below in a state of astonishment.

“Arnie! Look, you can see the Statue of Liberty from here!”

The air between us suddenly feels too thick. When we’ve been alone like this before, we’d always given in to our base instincts. Driven crazy by the sheer presence of the other and the adrenaline coursing through our veins.

But now… Now, I don’t have that excuse. Now, I’m simply watching a beautiful woman staring out at the city that never sleeps. A woman that I’ve grown to admire and trust. A woman with my ring on her finger.

The monster within me rears its head, but I find I can control it easily. No. Every move I make tonight has to be intentional. Purposeful.

I walk over to her, standing behind her as she watches the world below. My hands gently wrap against her waist.

“Is this okay?” I ask, laying my chin on top of her head.

She leans back into me. “It’s okay.”

We stand like that for a while, transfixed by the lights that move through the night. I admire how well her body fits against mine. Every curve presses against me in the most perfect way. So much so it’s difficult to feel where mine ends and hers begins. It’s the same when we have sex. Every movement she makes brushes against me like we weremeantto be together.

“Arnie?”

“Hmm?”

The curve of her ass presses gently against my hardening cock.

“Was there something you wanted?”

Her sultry voice takes me by surprise.

She moves again, but slower this time. There is suddenly no point denying that she’s exactly what I want.

My mouth trails down her neck.

“There’s a stunning woman in my hotel room wearing my engagement ring,” I counter with another kiss. “What do you think?”

“Ourhotel room,” she corrects as she tilts her head to give me better access. “I honestly think you’d come up with any excuse to touch me.”

“Can you blame me?”

I let my fingers deftly trail along the curves of her body to find the zipper of her dress. She doesn’t protest as I tug it down in one fluid motion, exposing the skin of her bare back. Its softness calls to me, and I find myself kissing along her shoulders.

She hums happily, dropping her arms to allow her dress to melt off her body, pooling at her feet. I can feel the way her heart rate picks up, her breath heavy and laced with anticipation as I continue to explore her skin like a prayer.
