After thanking them for their time, they left to resume their duties.

“You look sad to see them go,” Tabitha remarked.

“It's just me being a good assistant,” I replied.

I turned to see that she wasn't wearing her scrubs. She was wearing a black dress that stopped right above her knees under her lab coat. I had gotten used to seeing her in scrubs, so the new look was refreshing. She had her hair in a ponytail, and her makeup was light. She never wore heavy makeup, but this was like she wasn't wearing any at all.

“Is something wrong?” she asked and inspected herself.

“Nothing is wrong actually,” I replied. “You just look too good in that outfit. You changed a lot of things today. Your makeup, hair…” I paused and leaned close to her face. “You also put on some new perfume. You normally use rose, but it's lavender now. Oil perfume, perhaps?”

“I should be worried about how you know all this,” she said. “How many girlfriends have you had?”

“Would you believe me if I said none?”

“Well, with your arrogance and pride of consideration, I could actually believe you,” she replied, without hesitation.

“This is why I don't compliment you often.” I rolled my eyes.

“But you should be complimenting me each time you see me,” she insisted. “What if someone else was to compliment me?”

“Without you threatening them?”

“Okay, on the off chance that they do it willingly,” she corrected herself.

“So, you have to force people to give you compliments.” I raised a brow. “Maybe, I should start complimenting you more often. The fact you have to force others is actually very sad.”

“Shut up,” she stammered, as she inspected her dress. “Is this dress too long?”

“It stops right above your knee,” I reminded her. “You want a little more skin?”

“Do you want me to show you a little more?” she smirked.

“That is just perfect as it is,” I said, “considering that you would be interacting with more patients.”

“Yeah,” she said, forming an impish smile.

She grabbed the sides of the dress and slowly pulled it up, revealing more of her thighs.

“I think this is much better,” she said. “There’s less resistance, and I can move around freely. What do you think?”

“I…”

What's this?

“Maybe the patients won't mind. They can respond better to my exams,” she went on, raising the dress just a bit higher, stopping halfway up her thighs.

It's obvious that she's trying to make me jealous. The problem is, why is it working?I didn't need her to know it affected me.

“If you're comfortable going around like that, there's no problem.” I applied some good old reverse psychology.

“I'm actually comfortable,” she said and walked past me. “Enjoy the rest of your day. We'll see each other when you're done.”

The lab coat covered her back, so her thighs weren’t visible. But the fact that a lot of patients would still see part of her still annoyed me. That’s what she wanted. I wasn’t going to give her that satisfaction.

Wait, if she just appeared when I had finished the conversation, what parts did she overhear?

Tabitha
