Aqua’s dad is an Elvan, and his mom was a Siren which gives him some unique talents. I remember once at a party Love started singing and Aqua joined in, their duet was breath-taking. His deep baritone sooths the soul.

Rea catches my eye and winks, inclining her head towards Vain. We don’t see Vain being put in her place too often so when she does, we have a habit of teasing her, but looking at her today I have a feeling that she is hurt by Aqua’s reprimand. I shake my head at Rea so that she doesn’t rub salt in the wound as none of us want Vain upset, she can become a terror when upset.

“We have a problem!” I glance behind myself to see Trek standing in the doorway a scowl adorning his face, his body tense. It’s not difficult to guess that we aren’t going to like what we hear.

TREK 14

“What do you mean, how is that even possible?” I ask surprised at what Cole has just revealed.

“I don’t know, but this has never happened before. There is no need for me to tell you how complicated things are going to get if it continues,” Cole states, “We were hoping that the Princesses could do something about it.”

“I will speak to them and see, but I’m not sure what they can possibly do as this would be something that Toron must have orchestrated.”

“Please see what you can do, we don’t want to alarm anyone, but if this continues, we will have to send our faction out of our lair,” Cole pleads before he turns to take his leave.

My anger is palpitating through my body, the tricky maggot gets everywhere, when we were just getting a semblance of peace he attacks again. I will speak to the girls and see what they can do, hopefully they manage to undo this new spell of Toron because if they don’t we will have to leave here and find ourselves somewhere else, which at the moment isn’t easy as we don’t know who we can trust.

Making my way back towards where the others are, I dread having to be the bearer of bad news. Coming to stand in the doorway to the room I see the men that have followed us in the quest, Brok and Doil are standing to the far end of the room talking among themselves. Zain and Aqua are standing before me, Zain raises his brows when he sees me.

“We have a problem!” everyone stops what they are doing to look at me, I see the smile on Hope’s face disappear as she realises that more trouble is coming. “Toron has somehow stopped theflow of water into the singing tunnels.” I hear the grunts and gasps from those looking at me.

“Cole asked if you can somehow help?” I see the girls looking at each other, Vain has stood from where she was sitting on the bed, Hope and Rea have gone to stand next to her.

“We can try,” Vain says without consulting her sisters, but I know that these girls understand each other without having to say a word.

“Can you take us to their water supply?” Rea asks.

“I can,” I reply inclining my head towards the entrance.

“Aqua, we might need your assistance with this,” Hope calls as she walks past the men.

“Anything you need,” Aqua promises.

We make our way as a group towards where I know the Dragon’s go and collect their water, as we approach, we find a group of Dragon women standing near the once flowing stream talking. They look up as we come to stand beside them. “What is happening to our water?” one of them asks as she looks at us.

“We think it might be the Warlock, the princesses will try and break the spell.” It is clear from their reaction that they are weary of anything the girls do, but they don’t fight our help which is a good sign.

Vain stands in the middle holding Reality’s hand to her right and Hope’s hand to her left. “I will begin, then you two can follow suit,” Vain says before looking towards the trickle of water that now stutters through the once abundant stream.

“Water that emerges from the core of our mother earth, may you flow,”

“Water that nourishes life, that streams through every being, may you flow,”

“Water that is the source of all life, may you grow and nourish and heal,”

“Any unnatural blockage that has been erected to impede your flow, break it down, break it down, break it down.”

“Mother Earth, rise, rise, rise, Mother Earth, flow, flow, flow,”

Vain starts the chant, soon the other two are following the words, their voice rising and growing in strength. A blue glow is streaming around the girls, flowing through the dry stream. When I am about to lose hope that they can break Toron’s spell, I see a trickle of water, and then there is more and more, the gurgling begins once again. I can hear the women that are standing back now smiling, their expressions have changed from one of uncertainty to one of happiness and acceptance.

The one that spoke earlier walks forward, her head bowed as she takes Hope’s hand and kisses it. “Thank you,” she says.

“Our pleasure, thank you for having us,” I smile at Hope’s kind words. The women have now approached the stream to gather water like they do every day. The three girls turn, making their way towards us. “Aqua, can you see if there is anything untoward in the water or if you sense anything in it.”

I now understand the assistance that Hope required from Aqua. As part Siren he will be able to detect any poison or negative energy in the water. He nods as he steps around the girls to the edge of the water, squatting down he lifts a handful of water to his face, I see him smelling the water, then he is looking down at the water in his hand, his eyes seeing every drop, every particle in it.

Toron has once again managed to infiltrate our sanctuary, but he hasn’t been able to win. I know that we are running out of time, that sooner or later we will have to confront him head on, but until we have news from Jinx on any weakness that Toron mighthave that will benefit us in this fight, we will have to wait before proceeding.
