I chuckle softly, finishing her sentence, "Overdue."

She laughs, a soft, tinkling sound that makes my heart soar. "Veryoverdue."

And in that shared moment, with the early morning light filtering through the windows and the lingering taste of her on my lips, everything feels possible.

“Will I see you tonight?” I ask a bit dreamily, pulling back enough to see her face.

Her smile is all the answer I need.

However, she replies, “It’s Thursday.”

I narrow my gaze, confused. “And?”

“And,” she draws out the word with a mischievous glint in her eyes, “It’s book club night. I think it’s time to have a conversation with the Dirty B’s.”

CHAPTER31

Lily

“Holy shit,” Vivian says, absolutely vibrating with excitement. “Holy shit. She finally did it.”

“Pay up,” Anna mutters, flicking her fingertips at Vivian without even looking up from her phone.

“I can’t believe it,” Vivian chirps, shaking her head as she pulls out a twenty-dollar bill from her purse and hands it over to Anna.

I narrow my gaze and point at their exchange. “What’s all this?”

Anna levels me with a borderline bored stare. “No one thought you’d finally pull the trigger and divorce Seth.”

“And not for lack of scheming,” Tasia adds with a chuckle. She leans back in her chair and shakes her head. “Believe me.”

My mouth gapes open. “What?”

“Oh, honey. You have no idea the Machiavellian lengths we’ve all gone through,” Quinn grins, taking a seat on the arm of the loveseat. “All I can say is, thank the Heavens above for London.”

A catlike grin spreads across Vivian’s face as she twists to face me. “Yes, how issexyLondon?”

“Sorry, I’m late guys,” Carlie says, entering the little nook in the back of Dirty Books. In her arms is a large brown bag, presumably full of wine, since it’s her week. “I’ve got a big event coming up next weekend,” she continues, unloading a variety of bottles onto the small coffee table, “and I’ve been trying to figure out what to wear. Nothing fits the way I want it to and I’m mortified that I can’t get my weight under control.”

“What are you talking about? You’re hot,” Vivian counters, shooting Carlie a look of admonishment.

Color floods Carlie’s cheeks and she almost misses the table with the last bottle. Luckily, she scrambles, catching it before it can become one hell of a mess on the carpet.

“Whoa,” she breathes, setting the bottle gingerly on the table. “That was close.”

Tasia shoos her from the table, then picks up the bottle opener to start passing out the wine.

“What did I miss?” Carlie asks, taking a seat on the empty folding chair meant for her.

“I’m thrilled to finally be indoctrinated as a Dirty B,” Quinn announces with a sly grin. “At least, every once in a while.”

Carlie tips her head and smiles. “Yay.”

Vivian swipes a hand in the air. “Yes, yes. That’s all very exciting. However, the big bomb drop goes to Lily.”

All eyes once again turn on me and I sigh, mustering up the courage to say it once again. “I’m getting a divorce.”

Carlie gasps, planting her hands over her mouth. “Oh my gosh.”
