Anna drops her phone a couple inches to quirk an eyebrow at Carlie.

“And now that we’re all caught up, I’m dying here,” Vivian cuts in. “Please, please tell me London has made his move.”

I shake my head in disbelief, even though I should have expected nothing less from Vivian.

“I second that query,” Quinn interjects, narrowing his gaze. “Whatisgoing on with London?”

I bite my lip, weighing how much I want to tell them. While they’re my closest friends in the world, everything with London is so new. So …tentative.

“Well,” I begin, letting my gaze float around the room. “I’ve been staying with London.”

“What?” Quinn fires off, gawking at me. “Why is this the first I’ve heard of this? Tell useverything. I’ll flog him later, that minx.”

“How long?” Tasia questions, a hint of scandal in her tone.

I swallow hard, scooting forward to grab one of the glasses of wine. After taking a sip, I lean back and offer, “Since the night Seth and I called things off.”

Anna's eyes dart around the group, gauging reactions, and then they land back on me. “You’ve been with him every night since the split? Like, every single night?”

I nod, my face warming under the intensity of their stares. “Not ... not likethat. He’s …”

Vivian leans forward, her wine nearly spilling in her excitement. “So have you two ... ?” She wiggles her eyebrows.

I take a deep breath, laughing a bit nervously. “We’ve had moments. Tender, confusing moments. But we haven’t, you know ... At least, not yet.”

“But you want to?” Vivian presses, practically biting down on her knuckles.

I chew on my lip and try desperately not to show my true desires. I don’t think it works, though.

Carlie interjects with a thoughtful expression, “You're both in a vulnerable place right now, especially you. He knows that. London wouldn’t take advantage. If I were writing your love story, I’d have him wait for you to come to him.”

Quinn sets his wine glass down and grins. “Well, I for one, can’t wait to hear when the fireworks over that event go off.”

Anna snickers. “What are you going to do, Quinn? Camp outside their bedroom door until you hear them moaning in ecstasy?”

I bury my face in my hands, trying desperately to hide the intense blush.

“Maybe,” Quinn fires back.

Tasia laughs, her attention unwavering. “Oh, come on, guys. We all saw this coming, didn’t we? Their chemistry has been off the charts from the moment they found each other again.”

I lower my hands and blink hard at her.

Anna grins knowingly, flipping her fingertips toward Vivian again—who in turn, pulls another twenty from her purse and cusses.

“And that bet was on whether or not you'd end up with London immediately after,” Anna says.

How that woman notices anything beyond her phone screen is beyond me. But dang, she’s good.

I shake my head, chuckling. “I shouldn’t be surprised. But look, it’s not like we’re jumping into a full-blown relationship. I need time to figure things out, and he’s been very respectful of that. We’re taking things slow.”

Quinn leans forward, his voice softening. “Just promise us you’ll be careful, okay? His heart is fragile, too.”

I press my lips tight and nod, touched by the genuine concern in his eyes. I kinda love that my friends care so much for London already.

“I promise. But guys, I can’t deny there’s something there. Maybe it's been there for a while, buried underneath everything else.”

Carlie reaches across to squeeze my hand. “We just want the best for you. Always.”
