Doubtful.

I step around my desk and pat him on the shoulder as I pass. “Thanks for the vote of confidence, man.”

When I get into the hallway, I close my eyes and take a deep breath to level myself.

Don’t fuck this up, London.

Before I can open my eyes, Cal shifts past me. “Don’t keep her waiting. You’ve done enough of that.”

“She’s married, Cal,” I fire back.

“And?” he asks, spinning around and walking the hallway backward.

I throw my arms up in exasperation.

He narrows one eye and grins.“But you’renotpining.”

My eyebrows tug in as I watch him retreat down the hallway. When he’s gone, I take another deep breath and make my way into the club, proper.

It looks totally different this time of day. Without the neon lights that paint the space bright colors and a mass of bodies gyrating to music, it looks way too big for the bar on the far end.

Lily is standing against the bar talking with Myles. She’s dressed in a beautiful blue shirt, with form-fitting black plaid dress slacks. Definitely more formal than last night after her book club, but it suits her.

Sitting on a stool next to her is the blond from last night—Veronica, I think?

Shit, I suck with names.

I’ll just call herV.Seems pretty safe.

“Hey, ladies,” I say, walking up behind them, and giving Myles a quick nod.

Myles eyes me suspiciously, but thankfully, she knows when to keep her mouth shut.

Unlike Cal.

Lily spins around, her light brown hair fanning out in the motion. For a split second, I’m mesmerized by the way the golden lights of the bar make the blond streaks in her hair sparkle.

“London,hi.” Her voice is breathless and it stirs my insides.

“Oooh,” V says when she turns around and notices me. I’m not sure what that’s all about, but I hope like hell it’s not bad.

After holding my gaze for a moment, Lily turns to indicate V. “I hope you don’t mind. I brought Vivian with me. She really wanted to see Nocté.”

Ah, Vivian. Not Veronica, then.

There’s something in the way she moves—kind of fidgety—that makes me think that’s only part of the story.

“Sure, no problem. Do you ladies want a quick tour?” I ask, hoping that going through the motions of a tour will iron out the rest of my own nerves. But at this point, who the fuck knows?

Vivian practically jumps off her bar stool. “I’d love a tour.”

“Sure.” Lily nods, smiling softly.

I tip my head. “Well, you’ve already seen the bar,” I say, swiping my hand toward Myles and her station. I turn around, pointing at the large stage on top of the platform. “That’s where the DJ performs his magic every night. Obviously, the rest of this space is the main level of the club.”

“I love the semicircular seating,” Vivian says, walking over to one of the lounge areas. “The sequence cushions are a nice touch. I bet they look amazing when the lights are going.”

“Vivian’s an interior designer,” Lily offers.
