“Ah.” I grin. That explains her friend’s interest in the furniture.

We walk around the rest of the space, letting Vivian evaluate the design aesthetics. Based on the way she gushes about it, she approves.

“What’s up there?” Lily asks, pointing to the black-out windows on the upper level.

“VIP rooms,” I respond. It’s usually enough to keep people from asking too many questions.

There are eleven large rooms in all that overlook the main club on either side of the building. However, they’re definitely more exclusive than just VIPs.

“Ooooh, I want to see,” Vivian says, clapping.

I shake my head. “Sorry, against club rules. They’re invite-only.”

“We can’t evenseethem?” Vivian asks, aghast as she presses her fingertips to her clavicle.

I shake my head. “Sorry.”

As much as that’s gonna sting—I also know it adds to the mystique that Club Nocté represents. She’ll get over it—and probably be curious as hell. Which is exactly what we want.

Vivian’s face falls but she nods.

“So, Lily,” I say, turning to her. “Do you want to join me in my office? We can go over the details for this event.”

She inhales sharply as she turns to me. “Yeah. Okay.”

“Vivian, feel free to hang out with Myles. She’ll take care of you. Drinks are on the house,” I offer, pointing toward the bar.

Vivian’s blue eyes brighten. “I’ll never turn down free drinks.”

She sashays off leaving Lily and me standing awkwardly in the middle of the dance floor.

“So, wanna …” I make a feeble attempt at pointing toward the direction of my office.

“Yeah, yeah,” she responds, nodding and extending her hand.

I take the lead, making my way to the inconspicuous door hidden behind an enormous velvet curtain. With the keycard in hand, I swipe it and open the door to the hallway. I hold it open and let her step inside before I close it.

“I’m this way,” I say, pointing to the other end. Stepping out in front again, I lead the way to my office, trying to tame the pounding in my chest.

Lily doesn’t say anything. She just clasps her hands in front of her body and follows after me.

When we reach my door, it’s the only one in the hallway that’s wide open. Light cascades into the black-painted hallway from my window and the LED overhead lighting.

“Come on in. Have a seat,” I say, standing by the open door and sweeping my hand inside.

She smiles at me and walks by, wafting the scent of her perfume as she does so. It’s a subtle mix of lavender and vanilla and despite myself, I commit it to memory.

I give myself a count of three before following into the room.

She takes the seat Cal typically chooses and I walk around to the other side of the desk, relieved to have a buffer between us.

“So, before I can really discuss anything about this event, I need you to sign this NDA,” I say, picking up the stack of papers I printed out earlier.

She swallows hard and nods. “Sure.”

I extend the papers to her and she accepts them, her gaze immediately falling to the writing as she leans back and gets comfortable.

A grin plays at my lips.
