Carlie rolls her eyes. “Ugh, you’re sweet. But knowing my luck, I’ll trip over myself and end up in the emergency room. Or I’ll get paired up with some buff muscle head guy who’ll take one look at me and think‘what a slob.’”

Vivian’s head swivels to Carlie. “You’re not a slob. You’ve got killer curves, woman. Own them. If you get a beefy guy, he’ll be the one struggling with the massive boner you’ll give him every time you do squats. Make sure you bend and snap on the way up. Really gets their gears turning.”

Carlie’s cheeks gain some color and she blinks at Vivian, clearly shocked. That’s saying something, considering she writes sexy scenes for a living.

When everyone looks at Vivian, she just shrugs. “What? If I had an ass and boobs like that, I’d be flaunting the hell out of them.”

Anna turns to her with her expression deadpan. “You flaunt yours all the time.” She points at Vivian’s teal halter top that’s barely holding her breasts in place. “Case in point.”

“Awww, Chang, I didn’t know you cared,” Vivian counters, then hoists her boobs up higher so they practically spill over the top.

Anna rolls her eyes and returns to her phone.

“So, you’re late. I was worried you weren’t coming,” Tasia says, turning to me. “Everything okay with London?”

Again, one by one, all eyes turn to me.

I shift in my seat.

“Things are fine,” I mutter, glancing at the coffee table with five empty wine glasses.

Shit, it was my week to bring the booze.

“Oooh, I sense goss,” Vivian says, tucking her legs up into lotus position on the loveseat.

Anna pokes Vivian’s extended knee with her index finger and pushes it back to Vivian’s side.

“There’s no goss. I’m fine. We’re fine. Everything’sfine,” I protest. But my voice squeaks at the end and I’m not entirely sure it pressed home the point I was trying to make.

All eyes remain on me—even Anna’s.

I blink.

They blink.

I clear my throat. “So, uh, I forgot the wine.” I stand up. “I should go rectify that.”

Without waiting for a response, I march myself through the store and back to the front door. Unfortunately, I don’t even get to the handle before my arm is tugged backward and my feet come to a halt.

“Lily, what’s going on? It’s not like you to be late—or forget your week for wine,” Tasia says when I spin around to face her.

Instead of answering, I step forward and drop my forehead to her shoulder. “Seth’s back,” I mumble.

She grabs my shoulders and holds me in front of her. Her brown eyes search mine for a moment before she says, “You’re not happy about this.”

It’s not a question, it’s a statement. That’s how well she knows me.

“He’s back and he’s home. And he’sstaying,” I moan, raising my gaze to the ceiling. “This is all I’ve wanted for years but now that it’s here…”

“It’s not what you want.” Again, she finishes my thought—and it’s not a question.

I swallow hard but don’t respond. If I say it out loud, it makes it real.

“What did you decide about London?” she asks, still watching my every move.

I exhale. “I haven’t seen him since Monday.”

“What?” she fires back, nearly choking on her spit, by the look of it. “I thought this event is supposed to take place next month.”
