But I’d know that smile anywhere now.

While the question of why he’s half-naked in a photo of hers makes my skin crawl, my eyes zero in on his muscular chest.

I know he has tattoos now—tattoos I would love to know the meaning of. But this newly discovered one makes my breath catch in my throat.

Tattooed right over his heart is a single flower.

A lily set in stars.

My mouth goes dry and I blink back tears.

Pressing my hand to my mouth, I click off the phone. For the longest time, I sit there in the dark with the image of his tattoo burned into my retinas.

So many questions float through my mind like it has a revolving door.

What does it mean?

Am I reading too much into this?

Why a lily if not for me?

Lost in a daze, I finally untangle my legs and walk to my bedroom. It’s only when I get to the edge of the bed and hear his soft snores that I remember Seth is home.

Undressing and putting on my full set of pajamas, I slip into bed as quietly as I can, staying as far to my side as possible.

God, I’m in so much trouble.

CHAPTER19

London

“Take it the fuck down,” I ground out through clenched teeth.“Now.”

Rebecca flinches slightly at the venom in my words. I’d feel bad if it wasn’t the third time I’ve asked her to remove the shirtless photo of me from her Instagram feed.

Until now, there wasn’t any sort of urgency but the last thing I want is for Lily to stumble on it.

She’ll freak out.

As it is, it’s taken four days just to get her back to work after the almost-kiss and her husband coming home.

The last thing I want is to push her away again because I have a tattoo symbolizing our connection.

Christ. That’s something she definitely doesn’t need to know about. Hell, I’m just glad I noticed the photo, so I could scrub it before she has a chance to find it.

After last night’s late-night texting conversation with Lily, I did a sweep of my social media platforms. Just in case she decided to do some sleuthing. There were two posts with ex-girlfriends on my feeds—both of which have been deleted.

That’s how I found out Rebecca still hadn’t taken down the image she took the night we broke up.

God, I was so fed up with her shit that evening. She came over to try to salvage things but I just wanted to be left the fuck alone. I had closed the door in her face and laid down on my bed, only to realize she’d followed me and snapped the photo.

She said it was so she could remember me. Then I found it on her Insta feed like we’d had a romp that evening and I was post-sex happy or some shit.

Please, as if that woman could draw out any kind of happiness. Post-sex or not.

When she still hasn’t made a move to grab her phone, I widen my eyes and spit out, “You know what? You’re fired.”

That startles her more than my tone.
