“I’ll have the Dry-Aged filet, medium rare, with the lobster and crab topping. I want a bottle of the ’98 St. Lucia Marie Cabernet,” I said to the waiter.

The waiter nodded and took my menu. He looked at Stefan.

“I’ll have the porterhouse, medium rare with the lobster topping. Can you add a few sides of the chef’s specials for us? I’ll have the Cab as well. One bottle for now. Thank you.”

The waiter nodded and collected the menu from him. “I’ll be back with your wine in a few minutes.” He informed us before he left.

Then I looked at Stefan, waiting for a scolding from him at the minimum. “All right, spill.”

Stefan eyed me, “I should ask you to spill. What did you do? What are you doing with my sister?”

I told him. “If you were invested in your sister’s life over the last several years, then you’d know her crazy ex-stalker won’t leave her alone. I’m not who you should be worried about.”

Stefan shook his head. “Listen, man, I haven’t always been there for Mandy. Fate intervened and brought her back into my life. I want to be the big brother she deserves. I need to make up for all of the lost time.”

“That’s why you asked her to stay away from me?” I asked, without mincing words.

He nodded, “No matter what you think, Mandy’s my sister. She’s fragile. She’ll get hurt if she’s involved with you.”

I frowned as I stared at my best friend. “What do you mean by that?”

“I mean, after the Jessica scandal, I don’t think you’re capable of opening up to any woman again,” Stefan replied.

I calmly reminded him, “Mandy was being harassed by her ex. The kiss was just a way to prove we’re together and she’s engaged to me.”

“You didn’t need to kiss her to prove that,” Stefan pointed out.

“Her ex was being difficult. I needed something to get him to back off. It had to be believable. Besides, at the time, it’s the best option I could come up with.” I stressed. Even though that’s not the entire truth, I used it as an excuse to kiss her with no regret.

Stefan had a scowl on his face. “Mandy told me you met in Milan.”

My eyes narrowed, “Yeah, we did.”

“And you failed to mention it?” Stefan asked.

I knew what was going on in his mind. There’s no point in denying it.

“Yes, Stefan, we met in Milan, and I failed to mention that detail. Contrary to what you believe, I don’t tell you everything.” I responded sarcastically.

“The one-night-stand girl?” Stefan asked.

I nodded, “Yes.”

I saw the struggle in his eyes as his hands clenched into fists and his knuckles turned white.

“Relax, I didn’t do anything bad to her. Besides, she can make her own decisions,” I said.

Stefan shook his head and took a deep breath as our order arrived. It allowed him a few minutes to calm down.

I waved the waiter off after cutting into the beef. I moaned after taking a bite. Their food here was exquisite, which was another reason I loved coming here. I took a sip of the wine, and It was superb.

“Simply the best,” Stefan said as he inhaled the lobster.

“I agree,” I nodded, sipping my wine.

We enjoyed our food in silence, taking our time to enjoy the meal and wine. I smiled and looked at Stefan as he was finishing.

“All right, I know that look. What do you want with my sister?” Stefan asked.
