“I don’t think anything can ever make him miserable,” I said.

Bella said sternly, “Don’t be so quick to judge. Maybe Roger wasn’t one hundred percent in love with Jessica. But his feelings for her were real. His heart was broken when she tried to ruin him, and he almost gave up. He was so down that his business suffered.”

I tried to imagine Roger as the person she was describing. I saw a vivid picture of him in Milan. He looked happy from a glance, but deeper, you could see the hurt in his eyes. I knew he’d been hurt, but I hadn’t cared to ask him until that day at the bar.

He’d looked like he carried the ‘weight of the world’ on his shoulders. Now, he’s more carefree than Milan.

“I’ve never seen Roger so happy since his breakup,” Bella said.

“I don’t know, Bella, your brother is very complicated. I don’t want to misunderstand what he said.” I told her.

Bella shook her head and said, “You’ll never know unless you talk.”

“There’s nothing to talk about,” I said.

“I thought that might be the case. Well, I’ve decided to have a certain kind of conversation and not jump to conclusions,” Bella said.

I eyed her curiously, “What do you mean by that?”

I noticed how the blush crept up her cheeks. I couldn’t stop myself from squealing in excitement.

“Oh my gosh! You like someone!”

She blushed. I knew I was right, “Nothing like that.”

“Spill it. You might as well get it over with.”

“I’m not sure about this person,” Bella replied.

“So you want to find out.”

She nodded, “Yeah.”

“Well, Who is it?”

She blushed, “It’s Stefan.”

I was surprised to hear her say it was my brother she was crushing on.

“I hope you don’t mind,” Bella added quickly.

I smiled at her, “Of course not. It’s not a problem at all. I didn’t know you two were close.”

She blushed, “We are.”

“Well, I’ve not been around for a while. I don’t know what Stefan’s feelings are towards you. It’d be best if you talked to him about it,” I replied.

Bella nodded, “Yeah. I need the perfect opportunity.”

“I don’t know if things can ever get back to normal with me and Roger,” I said.

“You’re jumping to conclusions again,” Bella pointed out.

I shook my head, “I’m not. I’m just stating the obvious. There’s nothing I can do. He’s the one who clearly stated that we’re not dating.”

I saw how Bella’s eyes widened with shock. She smiled at me, “My brother’s an asshole.”

I hesitated for a minute. I then thought, what the hell? I might as well follow Bella’s example. I screamed, “I hate you, Roger! You’re an asshole!”
