“I love you more,” she whispered back.

We spent a few minutes cuddling before my phone rang, interrupting the blissful aftermath of sex. It was Adam.

“Where the fuck are you? The press is here!” he shouted.

“Shit!” I hung up and looked at Mandy.

“Come on. We’ll get dressed. We need to get you to the office.” She said.

I tried to protest, but she silenced me with a kiss. I became aroused again. She stopped and giggled.

“Not fair,” I pouted.

“Sorry. You’ll have me once you return from the press conference.”

I grinned, and with that sweet promise, I was ready to face the wolves of the celebrity world.

I felt giddy as I walked into the boardroom, where Bella, Stefan, Leonard, and Adam were gathered. Adam stared at me like I’d just grown another head.

“Before you say anything, hear me out,” I said to them. I briefly explained what I’d say at the press conference.

“This is madness,” Adam said immediately.

I understood their concern for me, but I didn’t expect them to all agree.

“I think Adam is right. This isn’t the time, Roger,” Bella said.

I raised an eyebrow at her, and she shook her head.

“Don’t give me that look. You know what happened last time.” Bella said with a warning.

“Low blow, Bella,” I groaned.

Stefan nodded, “Bella and Adam are right, but we love you and are here to support you. But if you do this, you realize it’s risky.”

“Yeah, and then we have to clean up your mess again,” Leonard said.

“Come on!” I exclaimed, “Try to be positive. Stefan, thank you for your support.”

“I still think it’s a bad idea,” Stefan said.

“Ugh!” I groaned, adjusting my tuxedo. “I’m heading to the conference hall. They’re waiting,”

I heard their murmurs and worries, pretending it didn’t bother me. I headed to the conference hall, ready to meet the press. If I failed, it could end my career.

The cheers and applause got louder as I walked to the podium. I focus on smiling and being charming through the camera’s blinding flashes.

“Good morning, beautiful and handsome people of New York City!” I said in a cheerful voice.

The roar and cheers of the crowd were deafening. Phones held in the air as they flashed and recorded me. I took a deep breath as I stared out at the press. Over one hundred people packed inside the small conference room.

I saw Mandy among them. She blew me a kiss as she cheered me on. I smiled and then focused on the press.

“I’m sure you all have many questions after the scandal. My silence was important since I’ve not released any official statement,” I began.

The press took over and started their questions.

“Yes, why haven’t you said anything? You even skipped the race in Milan,” the reporter asked.
