“Come, I need to show you something,” he said, leading me to the bedroom.

He showed me his phone with the text message from Kade-wanting to meet with him.
“He asked to meet you?” I asked as I stared at Roger, questions swirling in my mind.
“Yeah, two days ago,” he replied, “Immediately after our engagement when you left my office.”
“Why didn’t you tell me? I could’ve gone with you?” I asked, confused.
“Because I didn’t want you stressed. I knew he was up to something.”
“What happened?” I asked, concerned.
“Well, I went with three armed police, but they kept their distance. We didn’t want him to get suspicious. I had a strong feeling he was up to something.”
“He said we should talk, and I need to leave you alone. I refused, and he tried to stab me. The police intervened, but he was able to get me once, in the thigh,” he explained.
“What! Are you serious? Are you alright? Why didn’t you tell me? How bad is it? Is that why you’ve avoided having sex with me? So I wouldn’t see the injury?”
Roger started to laugh. “Calm down. You’re freaking out. You’re firing off questions so fast that I’m unsure if I can recall them all: Yes, Yes, time, time, okay, no, and no.”
“What are you saying? What do you mean?” I asked.
“Yes, I’m serious; Yes. I’m okay; I wanted Kade locked away for a long time; not bad; no, you’ve been busy and tired. I knew you needed some rest. These past two days, you’ve been so busy, and you always return so exhausted,” I explained.
“I’m not exhausted right now,” I grinned.
“Oh really?” He grinned.

I smiled as he played with my hair and massaged my temples. A lot of thoughts raced through my mind as I tried to sleep. Eventually, he kissed me and whispered sweet words. I slept knowing that Kade was in jail. I was safe with my baby and Roger. I get to marry Roger tomorrow.
That thought scared me, but in a good way.
“I don’t think I can do this!” Bella was imitating me.
I giggled at Bella. She was trying to sound like me, making me laugh and avoid the wedding jitters. Today, I’ll marry Roger. I get to spend the rest of my life with my beloved.
“I’m going ahead with the wedding,” I giggled.
“Damn, you are one bossy-ass bride,” she smiled.
