She sighs and mumbles what sounds like, “I could really use a drink.”
But before I can ask her about it, Nerds grabs my attention again. “I was coming out because we need to talk. Where is Rage?”
“In his office.” Sugar responds.
Nerds goes back down the hall and before any of us have a chance to follow him he comes back with Rage, who yells, “Church! Now!”
“Are you alright hanging out with Carly?” I ask Presley as I stand up.
“Yeah. Raven is coming by soon too. Everything okay?” She questions, a frown on her face.
“Everything will be fine.” I lean down and kiss her before heading down to the room we hold church in.
“What’s going on?” I ask as I take a seat and look around. It is mostly just ranking officers and a few members who were already here. We usually don’t start without everyone, but whatever this is must be important.
“I got a call from the tech guy at one of the clubs Rage put in a call to, to have them keep an eye out for Ben.” He flips his laptop around so we can all see the screen which lights up with a video of two black SUVs that are similar to ones that Josh described. “They saw these two cars driving by and followed them. They parked in a lot and when they saw another car driving up to them, the prospect who followed them started recording.”
He presses play and a video starts. A red sports car pulls up alongside the SUVs and no other than Ben steps out. He walks over to the guys, and you can see him talking to them and glancing around at the cars. You can’t hear anything until the prospect recording starts moving in closer.
“What do you mean he isn't here? He is supposed to be taking care of this himself!”Ben yells at the two guys.
“He sent us to get information and find them. The guy, Axe, he hasn’t been at the shop like you said he would be. We are having to find them since we can’t get go in their compound yet,”one of the guys retorts, crossing his arms.
“Why the fuck can’t you just go in there and get them?”Ben growls and steps up into his face. The other guy pushes him back a step.
“Because we still have a standing alliance with them. We can’t just go storming in there until we get more information, and he said that’ll happen when we get Axe.”
Nerds stops the video and crosses his arms while the room goes deathly silent.
I am the first one to my feet, slamming my hands on the table I glare at the laptop. “We have a fucking betrayal on our hands. Someone who should be working with us is fucking working against us.”
“Nerds, find out who those two guys are—”
Before Rage can finish, Nerds cuts him off, “Already working with their tech guy. The prospect followed the two guys, and they have a few others out looking for where Ben went. We’re checking street cams and are doing everything we can to find them.”
Rage gives a tense nod and then glances around the table. “It’s time we lock down. No one goes in or out. I want every hand on deck to find out who is fucking betraying us.”
For the next hour we talk about plans for everyone and what else we can do to keep us all safe and get this dealt with quickly when someone bangs on the door. Rage’s already pissed off mood about this shitty news gets worse. No one is supposed to interrupt church.
He flings the door open and barks at the prospect, “What the fuck do you think you are doing?”
The prospect surprisingly doesn’t flinch. He just speaks up right away. “Derrek from the Dirty Sinner has been calling. He said he was calling Blade’s phone a lot, but he wasn’t answering, so he started calling the phone we have at the bar upstairs.”
Blade stands twirling his blade a little more aggressively than before. He won’t admit it, but that club is his baby. Besides being an enforcer and taking care of the boys, that club is his life, and he takes pride in it. “What happened?” Blade growls.
“He said that he just wanted you guys to know that the girls are at the club. He was worried because no one from the club was there with them, which is unusual.”
My brows furrow as dread seeps in my bones. “What girls?”
“Presley, Carly, and Raven.”
Fuck. And we now know that Ben is close while the girls are out without any kind of protection.
