Quinn:

You’re never in the way.

Besides, I did promise I’d take you to Moore’s.

That he did.

The last few weeks have just been amazing. Quinn and I have been spending as much time as possible together, and I never thought it could be this way.

Quinn understands me better than I ever could have imagined. He understands me, he understands my flaws and insecurities, and he hasn’t run away from them. No, I don’t think there’s anything that would make Quinn McLannister ever run away.

“What makes you all smiley like that?”

“What?” I look up to see Kiara coming through the front door.

“Don’t you ‘what-me, girl.’” Kiara gives me a little shove. “Is it that Boy Toy of yours?”

I give her a pointed look. “He’s not mine.”

“Oh, no?” She leans on the counter, propping her chin into her palm. “The amount of time you two spend together would beg to differ.”

“We’re just hanging out. That’s all.”

And having sex. Lots and lots of sex.

“That’s some really exciting hanging out if it putsthatsmile on your face.”

“What smile?”

She pokes me in the cheek. “That smile. The I’ve-been-fucked-so-good-I-can-barely-stand-on-my-feet smile.”

“Kiara!” I chastise, looking around to make sure no little ears are around.

“What?”

“There are kids around here.”

“None that I can see.”

“That’s beside the point! Sometimes, you don’t even notice they’re here until it’s too late.”

“Fine,” she rolls her eyes. “Are you ready for our lunch date, then?”

I grab my bag from under the counter and turn toward my office. “Millie, I’m off for lunch but will be back quickly.”

The blonde girl peeks from my office. She’s studying accounting at Blairwood, and she offered to help me get a new system in that will help me run this place more easily in the future. “If you need anything, call me.”

“Sure thing, Vanessa.”

“Do you want me to get you anything?”

She shakes her head. “I’m good. I ate before coming here.”

“Okay, then. I’ll see you later.” Kiara and I make our way out of the center and slip into Kiara’s car.

“A new volunteer?”

“Yes, she’s been helping me with admin stuff, but I suggested maybe she could try tutoring kids in math once school starts.”
