"Brady does," Angie nods her dark head. "Christmas is our big holiday, so he gives everyone Thanksgiving off to be with family."

"That's..."surprisingly thoughtful of him.

"Anyway," she waves a hand through the air, "Brady said you can invite whomever you'd like. It's an easy hike, so bring your daughter. Your sister and her family are also invited. And your parents."

My throat dries. "My parents?"

"Mine always come," she beams.

"I, uh, will let them know."Like hell I will.

"If you don't mind getting me a head count on which family members will be joining us by Monday, then I can make sure we have enough food for the picnic lunch."

Wait, I thought I was supposed to be planning all galas, parties, and events?

Don't rock the boat, Iz. It's one less thing you have to do.

"I will do that," I snap my fingers.

"Where are you heading to?" Angie motions to the laptop in my arms.

"I have some emails to send out," I tell her. "I'm going to grab a latte and sit by the fireplace."

"Brady's not here yet, is he?"

I shake my head. "Nope."

"That's a good sign," Angie sighs in relief.

"Why do you say that?" I feign innocence as I ask.

Angie exhales heavily. "Don't take this the wrong way because I think women should always be supportive of each other. Glass ceilings are hard enough to break without tearingeach other apart. But Charlie is someone I have a very hard time dealing with. She's here for one thing, and one thing only."

"So, she and Brady are a thing?"

She shrugs. "Only when she's in town."

"How often is that?" I frown.

"A few times a year." I'm not sure why, but I can tell Charlie's relationship with Brady bothers her.

"I'm sorry," I offer.

Angie gives me a small smile. "I'd just like her to leave so we can get back to business as usual."

I lean my hip against the door frame. "I was terrified of you the first time I met you."

She grins. "I was terrified of you, too."

"Really?" I gasp.

"Really," she clicks her tongue.

"Why?"

"Brady and I have always interviewed his potential assistants together. When he told me he hired you without letting me vet you out first, I was worried you were here for the wrong reasons."

"You mean you thought I was like Charlie?" I rephrase.
