"No," Brady quickly shakes his head. "I was worried that keeping this between us for right now was just another secret that we were keeping from everyone."

"You were worried about that?"

He nods. "I was worried, but now I see things more clearly. You need time to celebrate the way you like to. Quietly and gently. Then, when you're ready, we'll have a big wedding so everyone else can celebrate the way they like to."

"Maybe we'll start by telling them we're engaged," I laugh. "And keep this wedding between the two of us."

"I can't believe I'm a stepdad," Brady furrows his brow.

"You're going to be great at it," I wrap my arms around his neck.

"You think so?"

I smile. "You're great at everything. This will be no different."

"Are you going to let me give Brianna at least one of the gifts we bought her?"

I scrunch my nose. "She is still carrying around the baby doll you got her when she was sick."

"I had no idea what to get her," Brady bites his lower lip as his eyes drift to my mouth.

"You did good," I wink at him.

"Can we consummate our marriage now?" He rubs his nose against mine.

"Where?"

"The car," he says before kissing me.

Our boots are covered in mud by the time we make it to Brady's SUV. He turns the car on and makes sure the heat is on high.

Then, I kick my shoes off in the backseat as Brady fumbles with the button on my jeans. I tug my sweater over my head before reaching for his jacket. It takes a minute to shed the layers between us, but when we do, I slide on top of Brady and run my fingers through his hair.

"I love you," I whimper as he pushes inside me.

"I love you, too,mybride."

My bride. It feels good to be called something so...cherished.

I move on top of Brady slowly—languidly—while his hands roam my back, my stomach, and my breasts. We make love in his backseat after promising each other a lifetime together.

The first time I made that promise to someone else, I had my doubts.

Now, I know what it feels like to stand on the edge of a cliff as snow falls from a grey, colorless sky and not have any doubts.

Brady buries his face in my neck as he comes undone beneath me. I follow seconds later, holding on tight.

Tighter than I've ever held onto anything in my life.

"How many presents did you bring me?" Brianna jumps up and down as Brady carries three bags of goodies behind me.

"Lots," Brady grins.

"We brought Grandma and Grandpa some fudge," I tell Brianna. "And we picked up some presents for Bea and Ben for Christmas."

"This way," Brianna says to Brady as she grabs his hand and leads him into the living room.
