Griffin thought for all of a few seconds before he held his arm out, inviting me to curl up beside him. I wanted to jump for joy and had to stifle the giggle that was threatening to escape.

Grateful he knew what I wanted, I didn’t hesitate to shift closer and lower my head into the crook of his shoulder. The moment his arm wrapped around my back and landed on my opposite shoulder to urge me to press the front of my body into his side, I realized how much I missed physical affection.

Not even getting a hug from my best friend compared to the feeling of being cuddled by Griffin. I smiled, thinking about how Janine would react when I told her everything that had happened since I left her place at the beginning of the week.

Loving where I was, feeling confident, I tipped my head back to look up at Griffin. He shifted his eyes to mine, something warm and intense swirling in his irises. “Indy,” he whispered.

“Griffin,” I whispered back.

“I don’t want to overstep or take advantage of the situation here, but I’ve been dying to kiss you for days,” he revealed.

“Dying?” I repeated as butterflies took flight in my belly.

He nodded as his lips twitched.

“Is there any possible way to revive you?” I questioned him, my tone revealing my intention.

“Maybe, but it’s a lot to ask. I understand if it’s too much,” he assured me, a smile on his face.

“Griffin?” I called softly.

“Yeah, sugar?”

“Shut up and kiss me.”

He wasted not a single second.

In an effort to gain better access to my mouth, Griffin not only lifted his head from the pillow, but he turned his body slightly toward mine. His other arm slid around my waist, hauled me tight against his solid frame, and held me there while his mouth descended on mine.

When his soft lips just barely touched mine, my fingernails dug in at his chest. And when he finally captured my mouth in a delicious kiss, my legs squeezed together. I hadn’t realized how much of an ache had built up between them until that moment.

Just like everything else he’d proven he could do with ease, Griffin did the same with his kissing. It was stellar, even before he’d added any tongue.

I’d indicated I’d wanted that when I touched the tip of my tongue to his lips. Griffin parted them, but he didn’t allow me to taste him the way I had hoped. Instead, his tongue spiked into my mouth and took what he’d been dying to take for days now.

Loving the way it felt and how good he was at it, I didn’t get upset. I let Griffin take, and I wasn’t disappointed or surprised that in taking what he did, Griffin gave a lot back. I wondered if it was just as good for him as it was for me.

We kissed for a long time, a moan eventually crawling its way up my throat. That’s when Griffin tore his mouth away and rested his forehead against mine, his hand coming up to the side of my face, and his thumb stroking gently over my cheek.

“Do you feel better?” I asked, my tone teasing.

“You have no idea,” he muttered, falling to his back again and taking me with him. “We need to take a break for a little, but don’t think I’m done with kissing you for the night.”

I’d felt Griffin’s arousal between us, so I understood why he needed the break. With the promise of more kissing to come, I happily gave in to his request and settled in to watch the movie with him.

Somewhere in the middle of it, Griffin had decided he’d had a long enough break and fulfilled his promise.

ELEVEN

Indy

I was warm.

So warm.

And it was quiet.

Everything felt perfect, and considering I’d just woken up with my body wrapped up in Griffin’s strong arms, I couldn’t say I didn’t understand why.
